“My sister bought Orchard House and I bought Orchard Cottage back in 1987,” says Sue. “We had been looking for homes that were separate but close to each other with enough land on which to keep our horses. Over the years my husband and I have done a lot of work to the cottage extending upwards and outwards which has created a very comfortable home”.

“When my sister and I first bought the property we had just eight acres of land,” says Sue, “but over the years we were able to add to that and we now have just over 23 acres. The formal gardens around the two properties are quite separate and beautifully landscaped, (though it would be very easy to convert them back into one large space if required). The remaining acreage consists of interlinking fields, a manège, five stables, hay store and a tack room, all of which are in very good condition. It is a beautiful location from where we enjoy uninterrupted views over our land all the way to Burwash and Brightling Point and beyond.”

“Having our wedding reception in a marquee in our garden” says Sue “it made such a wonderful day”.

“We shall be terribly sad to leave our very happy home, however my sister sadly is no longer with us and we need to downsize. Both the house and cottage have such a friendly and welcoming feel about them, and the location has been the icing on the cake; we doubt we’ll find another property with quite this wonderful combination of seclusion and convenience.”
