Telling the Story: Changing My Life – Andrew Dewey, SpringfieldBorn on a farm in central Illinois, Andrew Dewey was an extremely successful businessman for over 20 years. Upon moving to New Orleans and having Hurricane Katrina destroy everything, FEMA relocated him and his family to Jacksonville, IL. Once there, he struggled to find work and later, he and his wife divorced. Alone and hopeless, his downward spiral was exacerbated by a back injury. Prescribed 90 hydrocodones per month, both his back and mental pain were alleviated, but when the prescribing doctor went out of business, he turned to heroin. In this session, Andrew recalls his journey from rock bottom to recovery.
