Mr. Gil has also served as Undersecretary of Finance and Vice-Governor of the Mexican Central Bank. In the private sector he worked as CEO of Avantel, a Mexi- can telephone and internet service provider. Gil Diaz has a Ph., D. in Economics from the University of Chicago, and a B.S. in Economics from ITAM in Mexico City. He sits on the Board of Visitors of UCLA Anderson School of Management and the RAND Corporation Think Tank in Los Angeles. He taught economics at ITAM, in Mexico City, where he is an Emeritus Professor. Ricardo Lopez Murphy - Argentina Dr. Lopez Murphy was Minister of Defense and briefly Minister of Economy for the Federal Government of Argentina. He is founding member and Senior Economist at the Latin American Economic Research Founda- tion. In 2002, he founded the political party “Recreate for Growth,” with which he ran for the presidency one year later. Mr. Lopez Murphy is also an advisor to firms, investors and financial institutions in Latin America, such as the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, CEPAL, and the IADB. Lopez Murphy has a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of Chicago, and a BS in Economics from the National University of La Plata, Argentina. He was also Chief Economist at the FIEL economic think- tank in Argentina. Sebastian Claro - Chile Dr. Claro became in 2007 the youngest Board Member in the history of the Central Bank of Chile. Addition- ally, Dr. Claro has published extensively on international trade, focusing on the impact of China's financial liberalization on labor markets, the performance of domestically-owned enterprises, and the situation of the banking system in that country. Claro has a Ph., D. in economics from UCLA (’01); additionally, he earned a MD in Applied Macroeconomics and a BS in Economics from Pontificia Universidad de Chile, where he is an Associate Professor. Dr. Claro has done private research for companies such as the energy-utility Enersis S.A. Guillermo Tagle - Chile Mr. Tagle is Partner & CEO of IM Trust, a leading Chilean Investment Bank, and also serves as Board Member of the Chilean Stock Exchange; additionally, Mr. Tagle has worked as Director of AFP Bansander, one of the largest Chilean pension funds. Mr. Tagle has accumulated over 15 years of experience in South America's financial markets, having held positions as General Manager, Capital Market Manager, and Research Depart- ment Director in Santander Investment, in Santiago, Chile. Tagle holds an MBA from UCLA Anderson School of Management (’91), and a BS in Business Administration from the Pontificia Universidad Católica, in Chile, where he is a Graduate Business School Professor and Teaching Director.
