introduction
At Greenwoods, people are absolutely
fundamental to our success and steps are
taken to ensure the workforce is constantly
developing. This has resulted in a highly
motivated workforce with a low staff
turnover and ensures that our people are
both immersed in the companys culture
and have a great understanding of the needs
of our customers.
Greenwoods Communications began field installation
work during the deregulation of the telecom market in
the early 1990s. Even then, it was our goal to provide
customers with a turnkey service using engineers of
the highest calibre.
As network operators continue to invest in the latest
technologies in order to deliver new services to their
customers, they require partners who can offer first
class engineering services and understand a multitude
of OEM technologies. Many carriers have realised that
building networks is not their core business and want
to concentrate their resources on delivering services.
Delivering end-to-end network build and roll-out solutions
is Greenwoods core business, and many have discovered
how we can seamlessly add value to their organisation.

We now employ in excess of 300 certified engineers
and technicians and provide a portfolio of services
unrivalled in their scope. The need to keep up-to-date
with market developments in supporting customers
is fully recognised. Our installation teams skills are
continually updated at our in-house training facilities
in the latest standards and practices and by external
sources in the latest vendor equipment. This results
in a great depth of knowledge across the entire
operation and multi-vendor capability. Our reputation
for expertise and professionalism results from this
commitment to training and our high standard of
workmanship is recognised throughout the industry.
Greenwoods Communications now provides multi-vendor
installation services to network operators and OEMs
across Europe. Installation projects for major global
carriers have seen us working on networks not only
throughout Europe but also in Japan, Taiwan, South
Korea, Hong Kong, China, Egypt, Argentina, Australia,
Pakistan and the United States. Our commitment to
achieving timescales and dedication to customer
satisfaction is paramount and is reflected in all that we do.
quality
7
Quality is deemed of the highest importance when
working on-site. All engineers and field based
personnel go through an initial two week training
course, where they learn the fundamental quality
considerations and specific skills.
Site work is carefully inspected by team leaders on
project completion and strict checklists are followed.
For example: checks are carried out on cabling, label
identification, power, site clearance, sharp edge
elimination, cut floor tiles are edged and thorough
inspections are carried out to ensure no damage has
been caused. Following this, a report will be handed
over to the customer for final sign-off. Also where
required, a quality certified engineer will attend site
to conduct risk assessment, provide supervision and
final quality site analysis.
Greenwoods Communications takes quality extremely
seriously. It is our policy to work to the highest standards,
both internally and externally, in an effort to provide total
customer satisfaction. The company has adopted a
strategic quality management system and encourages
a quality philosophy to permeate the fabric of the firm.
Greenwoods achieved third party accreditation to
BS EN ISO 9002 in July 1995 and we have actively
striven for continuous ongoing improvements since this
time. The companys senior management team
continuously monitors our documented system, in-line
with best working practices and is always looking to
improve our internal systems and procedures to provide
greater benefits for our customers.
As a result of these ongoing improvements we were
rewarded with upgraded accreditation to BS EN ISO
9000:2000 in October 2002.

Health and Safety is important to all. Greenwoods
ensures that all employees are trained in, and aware
of, all relevant Health and Safety systems and work
procedures, including CDM regulations.
For companies that regularly work in field based and
often hazardous environments, Health and Safety is of
paramount concern. Greenwoods Communications takes
every necessary step to ensure our employees,
contractors and customers are not put at risk. Our internal
Health and Safety team ensures all site based engineers
and installation technicians are trained in the latest Health

Project support
Our project support team is dedicated to ensuring projects
run smoothly and on time. Covering activities such as site
surveys, site supervision, clerk-of-works activity and site
audits, they provide an additional resource to the project
management team. Although the project support and
project management teams work closely on a day-to-day
basis, project support is entirely separate and is primarily
concerned with problem prevention. If a problem is
identified during an installation project, this team is
dedicated to resolving it as quickly as possible. Having no
other commitments means that they will react immediately.
Project Management Systems
Greenwoods has made continued and significant investment in software to manage both projects and
installation resources. Developed in-house, it has the flexibility to meet the needs of our customers.

Shiva This system is at the heart of all project work.
Tracking any job from enquiry stage to completion, Shiva
provides visibility of any project’s status at the click
of a button. This enables us to stay one step ahead at
all times and to meet customer requirements. The system
automatically runs checks to ensure that materials, labour
and transport are scheduled and resourced as required.
Finally, a comprehensive reporting function is available
within the system to provide customers with detailed
project analysis.
CommSite Central This database has been built up
over time to provide information on network sites, for
example address, telephone numbers, directions, site
considerations, access arrangements and any country
specific information. This system helps eliminate site
access problems.
Resource Master Directly linked to Shiva, is our
resource management system. Where Shiva adds
visibility and control to project management, Resource
Master enables us to manage our manpower. Holding
details on the skills of every installation engineer and
technician, our resource team can easily match job
requirements to engineers capabilities.
Individual engineers skills are recorded to form an overall
skills matrix. This is used to assign the appropriate people
to each specific element of a given project, e.g. power,
PTS and commissioning certified engineers.
The combination of these systems gives us total
visibility, control and accurate information with
which to manage customer projects. You can feel

Network rationalisation
Network rationalisation has become a necessity within the
telecommunications industry, as carriers strive to maximise
their existing networks.
Greenwoods has the capability to de-install and de-
commission equipment (including the migration of all live
traffic) at redundant or low capacity sites, re-installing and
re-commissioning equipment at new sites where demand
is greater. By optimising equipment usage elsewhere in
the network, operators can enjoy substantial cost savings
as the need to buy expensive new routing equipment is
eliminated. Additionally, by using Greenwoods to perform
this service, operators are able to improve network
efficiency without incurring the cost of recruiting or re-
training to acquire the necessary skill sets. In this way,
carriers can concentrate their efforts on the technical
delivery of core services to their customers.
Our expertise in this area assists carriers to
maximise their existing infrastructure, balancing
out network capacity cost effectively and ensuring
a high quality service.
