Sam celebrated his Birthday with Dinner at Satay Mas. He had a lovely time with his friends. Sam is pictured blowing out his candle and with his friends at Satay Mas. Sam received many great gifts for his Birthday but one in particular stood out from the rest. Margaret had hand made Sam a new display board for all of his medals that he has won for his talents at Bowling. Sam was so pleased with his gift from Margaret that it has taken pride of place at his home in the lounge. Sam is known as the “Professor of Bowling” and received a legend of the week certificate.

Kith and Kin Artworks were a finalist in the North Queensland Art Awards. We were nominated in the Visual Arts Exhibition under $5,000 category. Our nomination was for our Inside Out – The Associates exhibition that we held last year. Artists in the exhibition included Bai Tapau, Garry Howarth, Sam Mamoose, Steve Moss and Tony Bancroft. So well done guys! Ann, Wendy and Jacki attended the awards ceremony at the Civic Theatre.

Debra has sent in this photo of a snake hiding in a bird box in her garden. Debra said her husband went to investigate why her birds were not having any chicks and when he looked inside the bird box he discovered this snake curled up inside! Thankfully he didn’t put his hands inside to feel for the eggs! Debra said, “A timely reminder to be cautious as the weather is getting cooler and snakes are hiding in warmer places just like in this bird box. We did return the snake into the bush where it belongs at high Range near the tea rooms”.

Ingredients 3 cups self-raising flour ½ tsp. salt 2 tsp. butter 2 tsp. golden syrup 1-cup milk 2 tbsp. boiling water

Method • Place camp oven on fire to pre heat • Dissolve golden syrup and butter in

boiling water then add milk • Mix flour and salt then pour in liquid

ingredients, mix well until all ingredients are combined

• Gradually add more milk if dough is not moist enough. Form into round circle then place in preheated camp oven.

• Cover with coals and bake for approx. 25 – 30 mins
