CLEA Pulsar Simulation Software
CLEA Software
Try atnf: http://pulseatparkes.atnf.csiro.au/pulsardistance/
After you've installed the software (ignoring any errors that pop up), click File → Login.
CLEA: Radio Astronomy of Pulsars
The page for the pulsar lab will appear.
Click File → Run → Radio Telescope.
CLEA: Known PulsarsTo look at a known pulsar,
turn Tracking on;
click “Hot List” and select the pulsar;
confirm that you would like to move the telescope.
CLEA: Coordinates
To observe a specific location, click “Set Coordinates” and type in the RA and Dec
CLEA: Taking Data
Once the telescope is in place, you can start to observe.
Click “Receiver.”
To start taking data, click “Mode.”
The x-axis of the data is time, and the y-axis is radio strength.
By clicking, “Add Channel,” you can make the telescope observe the pulsar using multiple set-ups.
CLEA: Data Analysis“Freq” changes the
frequency being observed
“Freq incr” is the amount by which you change the frequency
“Horz secs” is the amount of time shown on the x-axis
“Vert gain” controls the radio “magnification”
