Drummer/Composer Jeff "Siege" Siegel is a veteran of the New York Jazz Scene and has worked with a virtual "who's who" of artists. A member of the Sir Roland Hanna Trio from 1994-'99, Siegel's diverse career has also led him to perform and/or record with legends such as Ron Carter, Kenny Burrell, Jack DeJohnette, Benny Golson, Frank Foster, Sheila Jordan, Helen Merrill, Mose Allison and many more. This GRAMMY Award Entry CD is titled, "Live in Europe" (ARC-2055) and was recorded by Radio Bremen from two live radio concert dates – one at Munich's renowned Jazzclub Unterfahrt, the other at Radio Bremen's own concert hall. Of the 6 tracks, the CD features four original compositions by Jeff as well as one each by pianist Francesca Tanksley and tenor saxophonist Erica Lindsay. Playing bass in the quartet is Danton Boller. The sound of the album is great. Add the impact of equally inspired performances by master musicians in their prime, and "Live in Europe" realizes a great recording on several levels. A true Jazz Icon and a long time fan of Siegel’s work, saxophonist Jimmy Heath of the legendary Heath Brothers, weighed in with the following: "Jeff Siegel continues to make beautiful music. Siegel regularly performs throughout Europe at festivals, clubs and concerts. Siegel has conducted jazz and drum clinics throughout Europe and the United States. In addition to his own projects, Siegel has also performed and/or recorded with an array of artists such as Ron Carter, Ravi Coltrane, Kenny Burrell, Kurt Elling, Wadada Leo Smith, John Scofield, Mose Allison and several others. Siegel is the jazz drumming instructor at both Western Connecticut State University and The State University of New York at New Paltz. He is endorsed by Vic Firth Drumsticks.
