Librarize is a module of the ”School Management System” suite, a system created to modernize schools administrative tools using mobile – cloud computing.

Librarize is a mobile app that converts your smart phone into a librarian and store results in the cloud , providing a flexible, distributed low cost solution for book management for schools.

Prototype: Presentation

Presents the introduction screen.

Names the company (One Blue cloud) and the product app (Librarize).

Prototype: Login

User login screen: request username and password for registered users.

User id would be provided by OBC management system and requested at school administration.

Prototype: Main menu

Main functionalities: Issue a book Renew a book issued before. Reserve a book Search for a book. View book status. Help topics. Exit the app.

Books can be issued by student id or book id.

Each book should have a QR code.

When issuing a book by book id, the student can use the QR scanner of the smartphone and automatically fill the box.

With book id the system validates the status of a certain book.

When clicking ”Renew Book” button, if the book isn't reserved, another loan period would be granted.

Just write or scan the book id, return the book to the returning place in the library and click ”Return Book”.

The book status, if it isn't reserved would change to ”available”.

Search functionallity allows the student to view books status by id, title, student id or student name.

In the case of a unique book id search, only one book is displayed.

Information about status is shown. If loaned, return date is displayed.

The business model explained

The observation that mobile phone is turning into the preferred devices for computing is that the several parts of the world give emphasis to an opportunity to develop low-cost, light-weight applications combined with cloud computing back-end which could lead to an innovation in developing and deploying software solutions for administrative and service production in countries with developing economies.

Business opportunity

• In future, PC’s will be bypassed  by the mobile to be the most widely accessible means of computing due to the relative  low unit cost of mobile devices and their widespread acceptance and use

• Many applications that are currently running on PC’s will have to be redesigned or reinvented for mobile computing. This problem will create business opportunity where mobile will be the  front end (GUI and local processing) and cloud computing will be the backbone (storage and tasks that demands more processing power)

Solution One blue cloud’s solutions for mobile and cloud computing:o One blue Cloud will seek to identify areas of the world where

the new mobile – cloud computing paradigm will have the greatest impact, and then develop new and innovative solutions for administrative and service production purposes.

o One Blue cloud will build on the strong growth of mobile devices, both smart and non-smart phones and other low-cost mobile devices like tablets. Coupled with storage and processing capacity from cloud computing it will allow us to develop new solutions than can be deployed in an extremely cost-effective way, even in countries with developing infrastructures and a low level of computing maturity today

o One blue cloud will first target solutions be monetized in large markets where demand is huge, and the standards of living are growing.

Demo module for a school administrative system (The Librarize Prototype)

• Focus on School Administrative Systems/ Pedagogical tools for Schools

• Problem Area:

– Control and oversight over school books that are distributed as loans to students at the beginning of the year and then brought back at the end of the year

• Prototype makes it possible to check out and check in books to students using mobile phone with a camera

• Once book gets scanned, the data, book id, verified student id are automatically sorted in the cloud and accessible for the school authorities for administrative purposes.
