GENERAL NOTES

Situation Benbrook Farm has excellent national road access via both the M42 and M6 and lies only ¼ mile from the A51 which is the main Lichfield to Rugeley main road. From Lichfield and the A38 pick up the A51 signed to Rugeley and after travelling 2 ½ miles take the left turn to Longdon Green. At the crossroads in the middle of the village turn into Hay Lane (signed Fairwell and Chorley) pass the Red Lion Public House on the left and travel round the corner with Benbrook Farm lying on the left up the lane after approximately ¼ mile. From the west and Rugeley pick up the A51 towards Lichfield and after approximately 4 miles turn right signed for Longdon Green. At the crossroads in the middle of the village turn right into Hay Lane (signed for Fairwell and Chorley) follow the detailed instructions above with the farm lying on the left.

‘To the Sale’ and ‘Car Park’ signs will be erected on the morning of the sale.

VAT on Export Goods – Under regulations imposed by HM Customs & Excise, the auctioneers must account in a proper manner for VAT on export goods. Therefore, any customers who have no trading pattern record with the auctioneers must pay all VAT on the purchase price of goods on sale day. On receipt of all relevant export documentation and bills of laden (which must be received in the prescribed time limits), the auctioneers will then refund relevant VAT sums.

Loading It is the responsibility of the purchaser to arrange for the safe loading & transport of all and any purchases. Bagshaws are under no obligation to provide assistance in loading but on occasion they will do their best to help provided that it is not putting themselves, the purchaser or other people at risk of injury. FOREWORD

The sale arises as a result of a change in farming policy at Benbrook Farm with Andrew and Robert Moore going out of livestock to concentrate on their other farming and plant related businesses. The predominantly pedigree and pure bred herd of Simmental Cattle at Benbrook Farm have been built up over the last decade and achieved high health status with good bulls used including the current senior stock bull Sterling Cannon. Further cattle detail is given within the catalogue and in addition to the excellent herd of sucklers and heifers there is a superb Case 120 Maxxum together with Strautmann Diet Feeder which have done an excellent job of providing diet for all stock on the unit. One of the major parts of the sale is a massive range of IAE galvanised cattle handling equipment and sundries. This includes two fully galvanised crushes, two calf crushes, calving pens, selection gates and hoops and in addition a very large range of heavy duty IAE stock yard gates and diagonal feed barriers will be sold in the sale. Purchasers please note-the vendors will sell a Simmental Bull in the sale in aid of Air Ambulance. Clear TB Date 5th March 2018 Vaccinations BVD Tag & Tested.

All cows received Rotavec Corona each year (between 3-12 weeks before calving). All cows injected with Bovilis BVD each Autumn All yearling heifers scanned empty fit to breed prior to sale.

Herd Health The herd is currently within the High Health Scheme Monitored by Biobest which covers BVD, IBR, Leptospirosis and Johne's disease.

The Herd includes several pedigree Simmental cows from noted herds at Atlow (D.Donnelly), Oakcroft (R L & J M Priddle) and Cotteswold (Messrs Fisher) as well as other Pedigree Breeders. The senior Pedigree Stock Bull Sterling Cannon II was bred by Boddington Estates in Gloucestershire and sired by Darsham Playboy (DOB 16/06/11). Junior Pedigree Stock Bull is Forsdale Gadget 15 bred at Oswestry by Messrs Martindale (DOB 9/8/15). The Limousin Bull is Twemlows Jamieson (DOB 2/9/14) sired by Rainbow Simon and bred at Whitchurch by the Forrester family. The cattle on farm are in super form with big strong cows that have been bred for good legs, feet and sound functionality. The calves are well shaped, looking fresh and ready for turning out. The majority of the calves were born 12th November 2017 and mid January 2018.
