Horror Research Omer Mohamed

Horror films is a type of film genre seeking to bring out a negative emotional reaction from viewers by playing on the audiences fear.

The majority of horror films feature scenes that plays with the audience emotion, and the paranormal/supernatural are frequent themes. They use music which creates a dramatic tension, which puts the viewer on the edge of there seats.

Most horror films consists of a villain and a normal human being, in common horror film the ‘Normal human being is normally a female.

Horror Films

My horror film genre is Psychological/supernatural, it’s called ‘Death never waits’. It’s about several students starting to receive a phone call, 24hrs later that student disappears.

Some student realise this and try to avoid the call, but they can’t. My film would be based in my college also out side. It will contain some of the film techniques of the Horror film I have been researching.

My Horror Film idea

Slasher: Slasher films typically involve a psychopathic killer, who stalks & kills a sequence of victims in a graphically violent manner, often with a tool such as a knife.

Splatters: Splatter horror is a type of horror genre which contains a horrific amount of blood. These film, tend to use a great deal special effects and excessive blood.

Psychological/Supernatural: Psychological horror has become very popular in modern day cinema, attempting a certain level of “Realism” to inflict fear in the audience.

Thriller: They do not including supernatural elements as much as psychological horror , but instead focus on a constant sense of threat coming from the outside menace.

Also Monster, J-Horror and Zombies.

Type of Film Genre

My horror film is based on a film called ‘One missed call’; which is an American psychological/supernatural film and also a remake of a 2004 Japanese horror film ‘Chakushin Ari’, which was released 4 April 2008 (UK).

The film is about people receive voice-mail of their death; the message would included a time, date and something’s about their death.

My Horror Inspiration.

I also want to add the concept of fearing the unknown in to my film, and one film which done this the best in my point of view would be, ‘Paranormal Activity’. They used a normal recorder and no CGI and no effects, till this day it’s the most profitable film, budget: $15,000 and Box Office: $193,355,800.

They used plenty of things which played with the audiences mind; think that something is going to happen. They used Air-fans to make it look like something was in the duvet when they where sleeping.

I would also like to add the concept of ‘Slasher’ in to my film, for example ‘A Nightmare on elms Street (1984)’. This film was a buffed and refreshed and the remake was released in 2010, and they included a horror icon Freddy Krueger, a murder that has a glove with sharp metallic nail, which kills people in their dreams, which is a real death in reality.

This film was released 30 April 2010, Budget: $35million and Box office: $115,664,037. This film was a success because it had a great plot and story line.

Fonts Experiment

Firstly, you need to Buy Tissue roll, red face paint, black face and white Powder.

Then you need to apply the white powder to your hand, this makes it look dead. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9Ueu0VOxpU

Then you cut the tissue roll and apply it to your hand, stick it down with light glue, to make it stick.

After that you need to apply the black face paint on to the tissue, to make it look ‘zombie like’

Then you add the red face paint to make it look bloody and horrible.
