Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures

Stop leak if without risk. Move containers from spill area. Approach release from upwind. Prevent entry into sewers, water courses, basements or confined areas. Wash spillages into an effluent treatment plant or proceed as follows. Contain and collect spillage with non-combustible, absorbent material e.g. sand, earth, vermiculite or diatomaceous earth and place in container for disposal according to local regulations (see Section 13). Eating, drinking and smoking should be prohibited in areas where this material is handled, stored and processed. Workers should wash hands and face before eating, drinking and smoking. Section 13. Disposal considerations

The generation of waste should be avoided or minimized wherever possible. Empty containers or liners may retain some product residues. Dispose of surplus and non-recyclable products via a licensed waste disposal contractor. Disposal of this product, solutions and any by-products should at all times comply with the requirements of environmental protection and waste disposal legislation and any regional local authority requirements. Avoid disposal. Attempt to use product completely in accordance with intended use. Waste packaging should be recycled. Incineration or landfill should only be considered when recycling is not feasible.

Installation and Curing Manual for Omega Liner

Delivery and Storage

• The crate or box and the liner must be inspected to assure there is no damage.• The packing list must be compared to the order to assure correct diameter, length and

thickness.• The crate and Liner must be stored according to the specifications of Omega Liner:

The black UV protection foil (on the box) must be used throughout the entire storage time. The yellow outer foil serves as a UV protection during the insertion process, but does not offer permanent protection against UV radiation The Storage temperature must not be below 5 ﮿C or above 25 ْC 40-78 degrees F. The crate must be protected from extreme weather conditions. Do not store in direct sunlight.

Installation of the Omega Liner

• The host pipe must be cleaned by the high-pressure water prior to installation.• A CCTV video must be made and documented prior to installation of new liner to assure that

there are no obstructions remaining in the host pipe. Look for and eliminate sharp protrusionsthat may tear the new liner during installation or inflation.

• A glide foil must be pulled in prior to the pulling in of the new liner. The glide foil is to assurethat the new liner will pull easily and not tear on sharp protrusions from the host pipe.

• The cans or packers must be checked prior to each use and cleaned after each use..• The safety caps must be installed in the manholes.• The translucent outer foil must be cut open in the manhole area so that the liner is tied onto the

packers without outer foils (if the section is dry, otherwise only cut open).• In the intermediate manholes, a 5-10 cm (2 – 4 inches) cut must be made into the outer foils.• In the target manhole, the can or packer must be installed and the liner inflated with

compressed air and secured to prevent blow out.• The light-train must be adjusted to fit the diameter of the new liner being installed.• The light-train must be introduced into the liner with the utmost care. When introducing the

light-train into the tube liner, it is necessary to ensure that the inner foil doesn’t get damaged.• The can or packer must be installed in the closest manhole and secured against blowing out.• The liner must be inflated slowly with 0.02-0.05 bar/min until the operating pressure is reached.

It is good practice to have 3-5 short breaks of approx. 5 minutes during the inflation phase toallow the new liner to stretch slowing. This will also help remove wrinkles.

• After the operating pressure has been reached, the light-train must be pulled slowly and evenlytowards the target manhole; this process must be documented on video to assure both theowner and the contractor have evidence that the liner was properly cured.

• The pre-defined switch-on and switch-off times as well as the starting speed must be taken from the appropriate charts in this manual for size and thickness.

• The optimum curing speed must be taken from the appropriate charts in this manual for diameter and thickness.

• The laminate temperature must not exceed 130 ْC or 266 degrees F. (burning of the inner foil). If the temperatures are too high, the air flow rate must be increased, and the speed must be increased to the maximum value specified in the respective table.

• A 10-minute cooling phase must be observed after the last lamp has been switched off. After Curing and Cool Down

• After removing the packers, a sample must be taken from the installed liner according to the test specifications or the specifications of the customer

• After removing the inner foil, the tightness test according to the DIN EN 1610 must be carried out and documented.

• By means of a video inspection, the section must be examined after the installation, and its condition after rehabilitation must be documented.

The individual lamps must be switched on according to the switching intervals, beginning with lamp 1. Once all lamps are switched on, the light train must be started with a speed of 0.25 m/min after the idle time. After that, the speed must be increased by 0.10 m/min every 90 seconds until the predefined curing speed has been reached. 1.5 m before the end, the speed must be reduced by 0.10m/min. 1.0 m before the end, the speed must be reduced by another 0.10 m/min.

Switch-on and switch-off times light train / double core

The individual lamps or cores must be switched on according to the switching intervals, beginning with lamp 1 or core 1. Once all lamps or cores are switched on, the light train or double core must be started with a speed of 0.15 m/min after the idle time. After that, the speed must be increased by 0.10 m/min every 60 seconds until the predefined curing speed has been reached. 1.5 m before the end, the speed must be reduced by 0.10 m/min.

Switch-off regulation

The individual lamps or cores must be switched off according to the switch-off intervals, beginning with lamp 1 or core 1, after the predefined idle time.

Special profiles or other light train configurations must be requested from Omega Liner.

Pull-in forces, pressures and speeds

The curing process must always be started with the lowest speed. As a reference temperature for the curing process, 80 ْC – 130 ْC should be reached on the 3rd temperature sensor. The speed must be set accordingly within the predefined parameters. In the event of groundwater or cold ambient temperatures (8 ْC and below), the speed must be reduced by at least 10%. For vinyl ester resin liners, speeds must always be reduced by 10%.

For the speeds specified here, the DN-related light source must be used with the corresponding high-performance UV lamps. The temperature sensors must be complete and function properly.

The curing process must always be started with the lowest speed. As a reference temperature for the curing process, 80 ْC – 130 ْC should be reached on the 3rd temperature sensor. The speed must be set accordingly within the predefined parameters. In the event of groundwater or cold ambient temperatures (8 ْC and below), the speed must be reduced by at least 10%. For vinyl ester resin liners, speeds must always be reduced by 10%.

For speeds specified here, the DN-related light source must be used with the corresponding high-performance UV lamps. The temperature sensors must be complete and function properly.

All indications specified here are noncommittal recommendations and are based on general practical experiences. Special job site conditions can lead to lower curing speeds. Therefore, all details are without any guarantee.

In the event that IR monitoring is not available at the start of curing the following procedure should be followed;

1) An above ground curing test should be performed in an equivalently sized pipe section. The settingsfor which shall be taken from the OLC curing manual and curing table, however a cure speed 20% belowthe minimum speed shown on the table shall be used.

2) a sample of this pipe will be sent for laboratory analysis to verify that it meets customerspecifications.

3) upon confirmation and testing result review by customer and OLC the proposed curing speed will beapproved or adjusted.

4) once all conditions are met OLC will approve curing of the full pipe without the need for IR monitoringduring the curing process. If at any time during the curing process, there is a significant change inconditions such as bulb loss or ground water etc. you must contact OLC to discuss any change from theapproved pulling speed.

5) upon completion of cure a copy of the Curing Log and a sample of the completed pipe must be sent toomega to document adherence to the approved protocol.

Exceptions and anomalies to the curing tables

Curing Actions

of liners with a wall thickness of 3 mm

With liners with wall thickness less than 4 mm, the maximum pulling rate can be increased by up to 10%. Here It is a precondition that the temperature on the temperature sensor T3 is greater than 130 ْC.

of egg profiles In the case of egg profiles, select a speed shown in the table such that the diameter range corresponds to the height of the profile. (e.g. egg 800/1200=> select the speed for the DN 1200)

of liners with thermal hardeners

With liners with thermal curing agents, the maximum pulling rate can be increased by up to 20%. Here it is a precondition that the temperature on the temperature sensor is T3 is greater than 130 ْC

of liner with a reaction temperature above 130 ْC and blistering on the inner film

Due to unforeseen site conditions, reaction temperatures above 130 ْC may be reached on the surface of the liner. A clear indication that the reaction temperature is too high during the curing is when the surface of the inner film blisters increasingly. In this case, the specified curing parameters must be increased! Alternatively, the temperature can be reduced by increasing the air flow.

of liners with a reaction temperature below 80 ْC

Low ambient temperatures or ground water levels may result in much lower reaction temperatures during curing. In this case, the pulling rate has to be reduced so that at least it is 80 ْC, measured on the laminate surface.

in the event of a lamp failing during curing

The speed should be interpolated, based on the number of lamps, less 10%. (e.g. specified speed with 8 lamps = 80 cm/min and the failure of one lamp) =>80/8 * 7 functioning lamps * 0.9 = 63 cm/min In the case of egg profiles or the use of dual cores, the speed is to be reduced by 20%!

For unusual shapes such as eggs, Ovals or archs, use largest dimension of pipe to select curing speed. For oversizes in large elipses and Arches, use closest listed size and use 60- 80% of indicated speed as a guideline. Additionally perform a thump test on starting bell to verify intended pulling speeds.

The Omega Liner Company production facility located in Canton, South Dakota utilizes a comprehensive quality control system to ensure production of consistent product for our customers. Dry Liner Production

Dry liner production brings together the various non cemical components and assembles them as needed for the requested liner product. The following measures are utilized to accurate and consisitent assembly.

• Visual inspection of all materials during layout process• All liner layers fitted per established sizes and verified every 4’• Each Dry and Pre liner assigned unique Dry Liner Serial Number• Lot Numbers of all products attached to Dry Liner Serial Number• Dry liners are stored in climate controlled warehouse until ready for Wetout

Liner Wetout

Once a liner is requested by the customer it is prepared for wetting out with resin. The following activities and information are utilized to ensure on specification product.

• Liner assigned a Unique Wetout Number/Liner ID Number• A controlled Spreadsheet calculator is utilized to calculate the appropriate resin

charge and liner weight estimates• Dry Liners weighed and compared to Calculator estimate for consisitency• Preestablished Wetout equipment settings used to set machines• Dry liner ends sealed and vacuum applied to remove any residual moisture and

air from within the liner construction.• Standard Instruction and Data collection form prepared and updated

throughout the wetout process• Liner Thickness measured and recorded at variable intervals• Visual inspection by trained operator at each stage in the wetout process• Visually inspected on through light table and video recorded for proper wetout

assurance(detection of air or other anomalies)• Final rigid roller calibration roller• Liner Printed with footage data• Visual inspection on crate loading• Post wetout Liner weight recorded• Liner actual weight and Resin percent by weight calculated and compared to

expected.• Weekly calibration and post maintenance calibration of all wetout equipment.• Liner Data Sheet prepared and attached to the liner(example below)

Quality Monitoring

Liner Weight and Resin data are collated and analyzed by staff to establish effectiveness of wetout system settings. Charts, tables and other statistical procedures are utilized to evaluate liner data and where appropriate establish acceptance criteria for product evaluation.

All data is tagged to Liner ID numbers to ensure traceablity to a particular liner.
