Eucharistic Miracles: 50th Jubilee

Year of the Diocese of Orlando

May we fully embrace the crux of our faith - the daily

miracle that takes place each day in our lives ~ right

in our Holy Family Catholic Church at Consecration

~ the Transubstantiation of the bread and wine into

the Body and Blood of Christ!

Thank you Bishop Noonan for giving us a year to re-

focus our hearts on the true joy and sustenance of

our faith - the Eucharist! Please click on the link at

the left to see Bishop Noonan’s Proclamation! We

hope you enjoy the Eucharistic Miracles presented

every two weeks here in our newsletter

"The culmination of the Mass is not the consecration, but Communion.” ~ St. Maximilian Kolbe

One of the earliest Eucharistic Miracles of the Catholic

Church took place in the 8th century A.D. in Lanciano, Italy.

As a divine response to a Basilian monk's doubt about Je-

sus' Real Presence in the Eucharist.

In the middle of saying Mass, he said the words of consecration

(“This is my body,” “This is my blood) and saw the bread and wine trans-

form into real human flesh and blood. The blood coagulated into five

globules (later believed to be representative of the five wounds of

Christ). Soon after, the local archbishop launched an investigation, and

the Church approved the miracle.

The flesh is still preserved to this day. Professor

of anatomy, Odoardo Linoli, conducted a scientific analysis of the flesh

in 1971 and concluded that the Flesh was cardiac tissue, the Blood

appeared to be fresh Blood (as opposed to blood that was 1200 years

old), and there was no trace of preservatives. The parts seen in the

Flesh comprise all the parts of a human heart: the myocardium, the

endocardium, the vagus nerve and also the left ventricle of the heart.

Only Jesus would help us combat our doubts by going to such

lengths as to preserve His Blood and Body for over 1700 years as if it

was just shed! Thank you Jesus!
