Laudetur Jesus Christus! Gelobt sei Jesus Christus! Sia lodato Gesù Cristo! Praised be Jesus Christ! Next Sunday we will have a small social following the 9:15 a.m. Mass to send Gus Franer off to the college seminary. Please join us. I am sure Gus would not turn

down any gifts you may want to give him. Gus leaves on August 15 to begin his philosophy studies, which will last four years. He will then have another four to five years of Theology studies, before being ordained a Priest. Please be sure to keep Gus, along with Brothers Brent Stull, Henry Hoffmann, and Eddie Hoffmann (all of the Seminarians between Old St. Mary's and Sacred Heart) in your prayers. Let's be sure to pray for all Seminarians, especially those beginning their studies in a few weeks. The Church is in need of many holy and generous Priests. If we ask the Lord for them, He will certainly send them to us. I wish you all a blessed week!

"Inasmuch as God continually sends us inspirations by means of His Angels, we may fitly send back our aspirations through the same channel. The souls of the holy dead, resting in Paradise, who are, as our Lord Himself has told us, "as the Angels in Heaven," are also united to us in their prayers. My child, let us gladly join our hearts with these heavenly blessed ones; for even as the newly-fledged nightingale learns to sing from the elder birds, so by our sacred communing with the Saints we shall learn better to pray and sing the praises of the Lord. David is continu-

ally uniting his prayers with those of all the Saints and Angels. Honor, revere and respect the Blessed Virgin Mary with a very special love; she is the Mother of our Sovereign Lord, and so we are her children. Let us think of her with all the love and confidence of affectionate children; let us desire her love, and strive with true filial hearts to imitate her graces. Seek to be familiar with the Angels; learn to realize that they are continually present, although invisible. Specially love and revere the Guardian Angel of the Diocese in which you live, those of the friends who surround you, and your own. Commune with them frequently, join in their songs of praise, and seek their protection and help in all you do, spiritual or temporal. That pious man Peter Faber, the first companion of Saint Ignatius, and the first priest, first preacher and first theologi-cal teacher of the Company of the Jesuits, who was a native of our Diocese, once passing through this country on his way from Germany, (where he had been labouring for God's Glory,) told how great comfort he had found as he went among places infested with heresy in communing with the guardian Angels thereof, whose help had often preserved him from danger, and softened hearts to receive the faith. He spoke with such earnestness, that a lady who, when quite young, heard him, was so impressed, that she repeated his words to me only four years ago, sixty years after their utterance, with the utmost feeling. I had the happiness only last year of consecrating an altar in the place where it pleased God to give that blessed man birth, the little village of Villaret, amid the wildest of our mountains. You will do well to choose out for yourself some indi-vidual Saint, whose life specially to study and imitate, and whose prayers may be more particularly offered on your behalf. The Saint bearing your own baptismal name would seem to be natu-rally assigned to you." - St. Francis de Sales

Going Away to the Seminary! Gus Franer has been accepted as a Seminarian for the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. He will be leaving to begin his Philosophy studies at Bishop Simon Bruté Seminary, Indianapolis, on August 15. We will have a social for Gus following the 9:15 a.m. Sunday Mass next Sunday, August 13. Please join us as we wish Gus well in his studies and send him off to the Seminary. I will present to him a Parish gift; and am sure he would welcome a few other gifts as we send him off to begin his studies for the Priesthood!Feast of the Assumption - Tuesday, August 15 Tuesday, August 15, is the Feast of the Assumption of Our Lady into Heaven. It is a Holy Day of Obligation. Masses will be at 7:15 a.m. (Low Traditional Latin), 12:10 p.m. (English), and 7:00 p.m. (Solemn Ordinary Form Latin). At the evening Mass Brothers Brent and Henry will be admitted to 'Candidacy' for Holy Orders, the first public step on their path to the Altar. Please join us!Tuesday Parish Holy Hour - 7:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Every Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. we are here making a Holy Hour. The Rosary begins at 7:30 and Confession is heard until 8:15. Benediction is at 8:30 p.m. Please join us, especially if you cannot commit to a regular Holy Hour!Sick Visits If you, or someone in your immediate family is plan-ning to have major surgery, or is hospitalized for any reason, please contact Br. Brent at [email protected], if a visit from one of our Priests is desired. He and Fr. Lawrence have begun visiting the sick of the Parish and would be happy to visit those temporarily in the hospital, as well. Please give some advance notice, if possible, for scheduling purposes.Sunday Adoration and Vespers Sunday Adoration and Vespers have concluded for the summer. We will resume on September 17.Parents' Holy Hour - Children's Play Group Join our Pray and Play group! This is a group of parents who meet Tuesdays from 9:30 until 11:30 in Father Felten Hall. Children get to play and parents take turns covering the Adoration hour from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. in the church. This allows parents some quiet time alone in Adoration or the chance to take children into Adoration for a shorter time period. This is a good opportunity to introduce Children to the De-votion of Adoration.

Adult Conversion Classes If you, or anyone you know, is interested in becoming Catholic, are in need of the Sacrament of Confirmation (for adults), or just want to learn more about the basics of the faith, please contact the Parish Office for more information. Classes will begin at the end of August!Children's and Adult Tuesday Catechism Catechism Classes will resume on Tuesday, September 19 for all the children and adults of the Parish. We will have classes for children from 2nd grade thruough High School, as well as all adults. We are currently finalizing our plan for the upcoming year; but mark this date down now! For adults, the focus will be on the History of the Reformation from September until Christmas break. Please join us in learning about our Faith!Talking in Church Please remember the Church is the House of God. It is important to remember that in Church, we are in His presence. Please try to maintain a prayerful spirit, also being respectful of others who come for a few moments of quiet prayer. There is much noise and talking in the world. The Church is our refuge into silence, to which Cardinal Sarah calls us. Please keep talking to a mini-mum; and talk to the Lord in the silence of your own heart.Social after Sunday Mass Everyone is welcome to Fr. Felten Hall following the 7:30 a.m., 9:15 a.m., and 11:00 a.m. Masses every Sunday.

PREGNANCY CENTER NEWSHappy Feast of the Transfiguration of Our Lord! The Pope on LifeConsequently, everything is connected: the deepest option for the Crucified Christ with the most complete option for life, from the very first moment until the very last. To me this also seems in some way the nucleus of our pastoral care: to help people make the true choice for life, to renew their relationship with God as the relationship which gives us life and shows us the way to life. And thus, to love Christ anew, who from being the most unknown Being whom we did not reach and who remained enigmatic, became a known God, a God with a human face, a God who is love. (Pope Benedict XVI, March 2006 meeting with priests)If anyone feels God might be calling them to help in our life-saving work, we always need more volunteers. Call Terri if you would be interested in helping (513)929-9165.
