Series FSC-N - Enclosed units for use in segregated switchboards.

Century Fuse Switches have been designed and tested to a ll provisions of BSS 3 185 and are suitable for flush mounting in metalclad cubicle type switchboards for power supply and heavy duty indus trial applications.

This design featu res full width door and concealed hinges allowing close mounting of units to achieve maximum utilization of available space.

All units have been designed, tested and manufactured in Australia and comply fully with BSS 3185 for prospective fault levels of 80KA.

GENERAL SPECIFICATIONS

Combination Fuse-switches by Century Electric are designed and tested to all provisions of BSS 3185, and incorporate the ultimate in facilities for

Construction:

Mechanism and contact assemblies are supported from heavy gauge steel side plates which are tied together wi th lateral spreaders.

Thorough tooling ensures proper alignment during assembly and full interchangeability of parts.

A front door fitted with concealed hinges screens all internal parts from the operator; front access for inspection requires only the unscrewing of one or two knurled captive screws.

The design of frame and terminal at tachments permits ready removal of the fuse-switch from the front of a switchboard without disturbance of busbars or structural members.

The front door is finished in baked enamel . Colour light grey No. 631 to ASK 185-1 968.

Framework is heavily zinc plated and passivated.

Contacts:

Fixed contacts for all r atings are of hard copper, silver plated, loading springs being fitted to ensure uniform contact pressure.

Temperature rise tests prove the assigned r atings to be conservative.

Fixed contacts are fully shrouded for phase separation by enclosu re in heat resisting arc boxes.

Moving contacts are wedge pattern, hard copper, silver plated, ca rr ied on insulating supports on a sliding carriage, affording double break on each pole.

The entire moving contact assembly and carriage may be withdrawn from the units by the simple removal of two nuts.

Operating Mechanism :

The handle mechanism, of the over-cent re toggle type, is fitted w ith adequate compressions springs to ensure positive quick make and break drive independent of the operators action or hesitation.

The operating handle is retractable in both "on" and "off" posi tions.

Interlocks:

The hinged front door is mechanically interlocked with the operating mechanism to ensure:­

( a) that the switch must be set to the OFF posit ion before the doo r can be opened.

(b) that the door must be closed before the switch can be operated to the ON position.

Provision is made for authorised persons to override the interlocks to operate the switch with the door open for inspection purposes.

Flag Indication:

A positive position indicator, which is driven from the moving contact carriage, is visible beh ind a dear plastic window.

SERIES F.S.C.N.

An e nclosed version of the FSC series which has been developed for use in compar tmented type switchboa rds enabling seg regation of equipment, busbar a nd cab ling zones to be achieved wi th a minimum of construction. These un its have top and bottom fra mes extended to form a sheet steel enclosu re and connection tags are rear turned on a ll ratings. The dimensions of these un its are the sa me as fo r the FSC series enabling construct ion of a segregated switchboard of minimal dimensions.

All Centu ry CFS units are ar ra nged Tr iple Pole as standard but are avai lable with Bolted Neutra l fi tted if required.
