Fun fact about the plants and animals
The diversity between the plants and animals do have 2 things in common, they both need water to survive, and they are both living things that are a part of the Ohio River ecosystem.
PlantsHere are some types of plants often
found in the Ohio river. The Ohio river has algae, lily flowers, bladder worts, water
cresses, and water moss.Interesting factoid
There are about 7,000 types of green algae which can be found in fresh water or salt water, and in damp places.

Habitat RestorationPeople are trying to help get rid of the
pollution as much as they can. Have you ever seen a dead fish floating in the water? That
could be caused by fertilizers, industrial waste, oil, or warm water. All of those are examples of pollution, and it effects all
wildlife. The Ohio river trail council is doing everything they can to get rid of most or all of
the pollution.
Depth, Width, Length and the Ohio river environment!
The Ohio river has many interesting facts about it. For example, the river is approximately one mile wide on almost every part of the river. It depends on what area of the river you are in, because one area of the river is 50 ft and another part is 27 ft. The Ohio river is more than 950 miles long.
Location & formation The Ohio river is located in Ohio. It is
located just west of downtown Louisville, Kentucky. It separates the mid-western great lakes from the upper south states. It was formed by many smaller rivers. Over time from storms, they molded together.
Interesting Factoids(1) Over 3,000,000 people drink water from the Ohio river(2) Many people swim in the Ohio river(3) There were more than 8,000 river otters living there in the
year of 2012(4) Hundreds of years ago the slaves called it the “River Jordan”(5) It’s dangerous to swim there during a storm because the
current is really strong.(6) There are 20 dams in the Ohio river(7) During storms, sewage is discharged into the river at over
1,350 places.(8) Approximately 164 species of fish live in the Ohio river.(9) 80 species of mussels once lived in the river. Now, only 50
species live there, and 5 are in danger of being extinct.(10)The widest point in the Ohio river is about 1 mile across, at
the Smithland Dam.
