When transferring cargo between ships and drilling rigs, supply hoses are an essential part of loading and unloading. Problems may however occur, as occasionally, hoses fail to stay afloat. Hose displacement,difficulities when rolling hoses back on to hose reels, and hose damaging conflicts with the vessel propeller are also common challenges in the offshore industry. The latter may cause severe damages, such as contamination due to oil spillage, destruction of the hose and even damage to the supply vessel.

In order to eliminate these problems, GS-Hydro offers several solutions to keep your supply hoses afloat, our two fully integrated floating supply hoses, or FlowSafe flotation devices.

Long time partners GS-Hydro and Trelleborg have developed the GS-Hydro Floating Hoses, GS Floating Supply Hose and GS Floating Hose.

Custom made to adequately transport all standard fluids, and to make the cargo process more fast and flexible, the the GS-Hydro Floating Hoses are self-floating, fully integrated floating hoses, with Trelleborg’s built-in floating material replacing the traditional floating elements.

The rubber cover holds a strong orange color, in order to maximize the hose’s visibility when afloat. It also protects the hose, which is repairable on-site

230FlowSafe hose flotation devices are placed around the supply hose. The floating devices make sure the hose stays clear of the propeller, as well as keeps the hose afloat. Further more, the FlowSafe flota-tion elements’ bright yellow color enhances the hose’s visibility. APPLICATION: Assembled in the hose unit or between the hose and tube system. If mishaps occur or the hose is exposed to too much tension, the coupling is separated, the valves close and obstruct uncontrolled flow. APPLICATION:Hammer lug unions are intended for air, water, oil, gas, steam, mud, cement etc.

The GS-Hydro hammer lug unions are frequently used on bunker hoses on board oil rigs, high pressure hoses for mud (Rotary drilling hoses), cement, hydraulics or BOP. They are NPT/API “line pipe” threaded.
