It is a great honour and privilege for me, to have been elected as the 122nd President of the Munster Branch for the coming season and to succeed the many great names who have preceded me.

I thank you for giving me the opportunity to represent you as your President and I will do so to the best of my ability. To the members of Tralee RFC and the Junior Clubs Committee, I say a big thank you for the honour you have bestowed on me, by nominating me as the third representative of the Junior Clubs, the largest part of the organisation, and the first from Tralee RFC – one of the four oldest clubs in the province. Thanks to all my family, who have always been supportive and they too share in this great honour.

A particular thanks to Ger Malone, Charlie Buckley, Gerry O’Shea and other Past Presidents, for their help and advice in preparation for this role.

To all those involved in rugby across the province, at all levels - players, parents, coaches, volunteers, sponsors and supporters - I want to thank you for your endeavours and wish you continued enjoyment while partaking in this great game. To our underage coaches in particular, you bear the responsibility for passing on the very positive values of honesty and integrity for which rugby is renowned. To all officers – in clubs and schools - listed throughout this Red Book, one of your most important roles is to ensure that every player, regardless of ability, gets an opportunity to wear your club/school colours and to enjoy the

experience which that brings – it’s the main reason why they train.

Many thanks to everyone in Munster Rugby for the continued support given to clubs and schools, in terms of coaching, compliance and advice, it is greatly appreciated.

We are grateful to the Munster Association of Referees for the continued high standard of refereeing and with the ever increasing number of games, especially at underage, would ask clubs and schools to put forward potential referees to the MAR, to enable them to continue their good work.

Best wishes to Johann van Graan and his new coaching team, the team management, the support staff and all the squad for the coming season. It will be a tough season given the World Cup but, To the Brave and Faithful, Nothing is Impossible.
