    Columbia is the fourth largest city in Missouri at nearly 120,000 residents. Boone county which Columbia resides is home to roughly 175,000 people. Studies frequently rank Columbia as a top city in which to live for educational facilities, health care, technology, economic growth, cultural opportunities, and cost of living. The city has been ranked as high as the second-best place to live by Money Magazine’s annual list and is regularly in the top 100. The city of Columbia is located on Interstate 70, roughly equidistant from the cities of St. Louis and Kansas City. Greater St. Louis is 70 miles to the east while Kansas City is 100 miles to the west. Columbia serves as the home of the main campus for the University of Missouri, as well as the campuses of Columbia College and Stephens College. Over half the population of Columbia holds a bachelor degree and over a quarter have a Masters degree, placing Columbia in the top 20 list of most highly educated municipalities. With a low cost of living, it does not take a large amount of income to make your family comfortable in Columbia.
