Step 2
Pick a few recordings so you have a few choices. Come talk to us or e-mail if you have having trouble.
But, it helps us if you can at least identify an artist or artist(s). Give us something to work with!
Step 3
Make sure the song is commercially available.
DON’T START WRITING WITHOUT A MATCH! Just...don’t. Google will tell you. Google is friendly that way.
Hint: You don’t need to pick your commercial recording from the Archives.
Step 5
Talk to the librarians about other potential resources. The Archives may have some information about performers and the recordings themselves, but you may want to dig further.
Step 4
Listen to the recording in the Archives. You’re going to have to. We’re not bootleggers.
Pro tip: e-mail ahead and we’ll have it ready.
Once here, take detailed notes so you can write with your cup of coffee at 11 p.m. in the comfort of your home.
