...מחט ״״״ ״ פתחו לי פתח כחודה של ]מדרש רבה[
This year’s Shabbos Tiferes took place this past Shabbos, Parshas Va’yeishev. The weekend was filled with inspiring Divrei Torah, enriching activities, breath-taking murals, delicious food, a moving choir presentation, and an incredible Beach-Blast מוצאי שבת program; the impact that Shabbos Tiferes has on the rest of the year is difficult to convey. Our special guest speaker was the renowned and beloved Miss Chevi Garfinkel, who honoured us once again with her words and her presence throughout Shabbos. Her humour and honesty about understanding who we really are and making ourselves the best we can be imbued us with a sense of self-worth and the desire to take every situation as an opportunity to work on our מדות and character.
Many thanks to our Shabbos Tiferes heads, Elisheva Sherman, Leah Deverett and Shoshana Rosenblum, who worked tirelessly with student council head, Mrs. Tziporah Raizel Leider, to arrange such a magnificent Shabbos. Thank you to all our committees for their hard work and dedication: Baking, Banner, Bentchers, Centrepieces, Choir, Decorations, Divrei Torah, Drivers, Food, Kits, Motzei Shabbos, Murals, Shabbos Afternoon, and Supplies. Much gratitude to our host families for opening their homes to our students. Thank you also to our honoured guests, our chaperones, our Tiferes alumnae, and to everyone involved in this memorable experience.

Student Council organized a CCCHANUKAHANUKAHANUKA PPPARTYARTYARTY where the girls played an exciting game that had two girls racing to complete a variety of tasks. An afternoon that included dancing, singing, inspiring words from Rabbi Feigenbaum and, of course, eating delicious potato latkes and donuts - what a great way to welcome us back from the Chanuka break.
The senior class, in conjunction with the Chessed Committee, hosted the BBBIKURIKURIKUR CCCHOLIMHOLIMHOLIM SSSUNSHINEUNSHINEUNSHINE CCCLUBLUBLUB for a Chanuka Tea. Girls from the class baked delicious cakes and cookies, and spent the afternoon with our special visitors. Elisheva Starr spoke to the women and the choir moved all in attendance with their beautiful voices. Thank you to everyone who helped organize the event and to all our talented singers and bakers.
Tiferes Bais Yaakov is proud of its efforts in maintaining a close קשר with our graduates and we offer many opportunities for our alumnae to gather together and keep their connection to Tiferes strong throughout the year.
We were honoured to hear RRRABBIABBIABBI YYYOSEFOSEFOSEF BBBROWNROWNROWN, of Tomer Devorah Seminary, address both alumnae and seniors on November 25th. A staged fight between two of our seniors was the premise for this year’s CCCOLOUROLOUROLOUR WWWARARAR BBBREAKOUTREAKOUTREAKOUT. The drama began at the first play practice, when Rebecca Goldreich and colour war co-head, Bayla Gavert, started a very public (but very planned) argument about the placement of dancers in their respective dances for play. The awkward altercation was filmed by Miri Kaiser (also part of the scheme). Since the school had been given strict instructions that play practice was not to be videoed or photographed, the next morning’s assembly was a nervous affair. Rabbi Feigenbaum announced that all the girls involved in this debacle needed to offer a public apology in front of the entire school. With teary eyes (fake) and a shaky voice (also contrived), each girl took a turn at expressing her regret for her part in this dramatic confrontation. The silence was overwhelming as the final girl took the mic. After a sincere and convincing apology, Bayla finally revealed the news - ”It’s Colour War!” It took a few seconds for the shock to wear off, but then the excitement was underway and a fun two days of learning, creating and bonding was had by all. Thank you to all the participants for helping to plan and execute this school event and to everyone who helped make this year’s colour war such a success.
