On Sunday, 13th September almost

50 people enjoyed glorious sunny

weather and plenty of laughs at the

inaugural Vanuatu Charity golf day

at the Bowral Golf Club. 44 players

lined up to compete in the Ambrose

event with the balance joining the

team for a late lunch.

The day commenced with event

organiser Mr Joel Williams, sharing

a message in Vanuatu dialect

(bislama) explaining how the funds

would be used to rebuild the Tanna

community. We exceeded our

$1,000 fundraising goal by $150 and

these funds would be delivered to

the Vanuatu villagers within the

week. Mr Geoff Stedman gave

thanks to God for the blessing of

great weather and health to play and

prayed for the participants. There

was quite a buzz and many

remarked that it was a fabulous

event and that we should do another

one next year. Players enjoyed lunch

afterwards on the sunny clubhouse

verandah.

Our local newspaper photographer

was in attendance and took photos

of the team prior to the game.

Our thanks to The Bowral Golf Club

who were fantastic, particularly the

Pro shop staff who really helped our

day go smoothly. Thanks to the

people who donated prizes for the

golf day to add some zest: HLB

Mann Judd - first and second team

prizes, Robertson Butchery – meat

tray, The Eyewear Company – 2

sunglass packs, Husky Holiday

Rentals – 1 nights accommodation, Glitz & Glamour Photography Studio – 2

vouchers. We would invite feedback from the school community as we consider

another similar event for 2016. Placings and Prizes are shown below.

Pray for the following staff members – Mr Stephen Hilaire in his role as English and Drama teacher, praise God for his

sense of humour and his amazing way of bringing his subjects to life as he works with our High School students. Pray

also for Miss Vivienne Russell in her role as English and History teacher, praise God for her enthusiasm and knowledge

that she enjoys sharing with her students.

Both our Bourke and Vanuatu mission teams have left and are having a fabulous time at their various points of contact.

The Bourke students will be back this coming weekend, with the Vanuatu team back on Saturday 26th September. Praise

God for safety and the opportunity to be stretched outside comfort zones as the students serve other communities.

What do 9 girls, a packet of starbursts and a set of overused nail clippers have in common? Netball!

For four months, the SHCS Pearls competed against 5 other teams in the Junior Division 1 netball competition in order

to make it to the finals. If donning a skirt in the middle of a Southern Highlands winter wasn’t enough of an indicator

of their courage and perseverance, then their weekly performance was. They walked away from each game successful,

irrespective of the final score.

It has been a true privilege to watch these girls in action. Their talent, strength, and humility both on and off the court

are a testament to their character, and their joyful approach to the game has demonstrated a maturity well beyond their

years. They have done our School (and their coach) proud, and I cannot wait for another great season.

Special thanks to Jane Bollom for all the hardwork she has put in to coordinating the SHCS teams. Her diligent attitude

and faithful service have facilitated much joy, growth and evangelism, and her effort hasn't gone unnoticed.

As the season finishes, I would like to thank our wonderful coaches for this year, Lily Mauger and Adiel Mkolo,

Belinda Foster, Caz Glasson, Vivienne Russell and Karen Austin. I would also like to acknowledge the wonderful

support that Belinda has been this year to me in my netball coordinator’s role. Jessica Foster and Lilly Krejci have

done a magnificent job representing our school as umpires in the competition and we thank them for their

contribution each Saturday throughout the Winter netball season. Finally, I would like to congratulate all of our

players on a great season of netball in 2015.

Jane Bollom

Coordinator

Congratulations to our Cadets netball team who made it through to the Grand Final in the Southern Highlands

Netball Association Winter netball competition this year. The girls had a great season, and we are very grateful to

Karen Austin for her dedication to coaching the team this year. They were undefeated throughout the entire season,

won their semi-final and went straight through to the Grand Final which was played last weekend. The game was a

'nail-biter', with our girls battling it out to the final quarter. Sadly, their opposition were the stronger team on the day

and our girls went down 22 to 36. They can be very proud of all that they have achieved this year. Congratulations

also to Lily Mauger who was awarded Best and Fairest player for the Grand Final game.
