On Sunday, September 8th, the children and youth of FPCS gathered in Fellowship Hall to kick off the Sunday School year with a mission project. This year, the children and youth made over 80 sandwiches for Faith Kitchen, a local soup kitchen in Dover. The last time we made sandwiches, the children fixed 50, but

the director of Faith Kitchen asked if we could do 80. It was a big task but with the help of the greater congregation, plenty of bread and deli meat was donated. Faith Kitchen provides a daily meal served at lunch. Many of the clients depend on this meal for their food for the day. By providing an additional bagged sandwich meal,

the clients can take this with them and have it for dinner.

Thank you to everyone that made this outreach project a reality!

UPDATES

The Deacons are getting ready for the following events in the

4th quarter of this year:

Baptisms: We will be supporting two baptisms in October. Blood Drive: The annual blood drive will take place Sunday, November 3rd, from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. in Fellowship Hall. As a token of appreciation, a variety of delicious soups will be pre-pared and served by the Deacons for those that donate or come out to support the event. Let’s “pump up the volume” and donate more than last year. Thanksgiving Food Drive: The annual food drive which benefits Roxbury Social Services will be held prior to Thanksgiving. You can copy/paste the following link into your web browser to see what items are of need throughout the year: https://roxburynj.us/257/Needs. Or, just consider the fol-lowing packaged items: baking products, beans, breakfast foods, canned meats, canned vegetables, condiments, juices, pasta/tomato sauces, side dishes, soups, and snacks. When donating, please en-sure all donated items are within expiration dates. Sorry, but any food item that has been in your cupboard past its’ expiration cannot be accepted. It’s the law! Faith Kitchen: In December we will be donating $500.00 in gift cards for McDonald’s and Dunkin’ Donuts in $5/10 increments. In the past we contributed sweatshirts, however, the recipi-ents have told us that food and hot beverages are the greatest need. They spoke, and we listened! The Board of Deacons are here to support our church community however we can. ~ God Bless.

Saturday, December 7th

We will be having our bake sale again.

Sunday, December 15th

Advent Festival featuring the Bon Temps Jazz Band

Walking Tacos Raise Funds to Feed the Hungry

The Mission Committee’s Walking Tacos, turned out to be a culinary fa-vorite for Succasunny Day visitors looking for fun food to eat on the go. Taco sales topped over $400, and proceeds will be donated to the Faith Kitchen. Thank you to all who donated, shopped, cooked and served.

The Earth Care "Alternative" Recycling program has been a huge success. Unfortunately, we have learned that Terracycle has a wait list for both the Snack bag and the Foil-lined energy bars - so we can no longer take these items. We also learned that alkaline batteries can be recycled but the process is rather expensive. We purchased one recycling box for $20 and would like to encourage people to consider purchasing a recy-cling box for their home use. Items we can continue to take: Contact lens blister packs toothpaste tubes, toothbrushes, and floss containers #6 plastic cups such as Solo brand Thank you for helping keep these items out of the landfill.

Come to the Table Peace & Global Witness Offering will be received on World

Communion Sunday, October 6th

Our gifts to the Peace & Global Witness Offering enables the Presbyterian Church USA to promote the Peace of Christ by addressing systems of conflict and injustice across the world. Individual congregations are encouraged to utilize up to 25% of this offering to connect with the global witness of Christ's peace. Our congregation will donate 25% of the offering to Camp Johnsonburg for Camper Scholarships for underprivileged youth. Mid councils retain an additional 25% for ministries of peace and reconciliation. The remaining 50% is used by the Presbyterian Mission Agency to advocate for peace and justice in cultures of violence, including our own, through collaborative projects of education and Christian witness. Let us prayerfully, and joyfully, consider what we can do creating a world of peace and reconciliation. Open our hearts to Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace, and pattern our lives in the compassion, kindness and grace he shows us. Please give generously to the Peace & Global Witness Offering. Want to know more about the Peace & Global Witness Offering and Peacemaking? Visit https://specialofferings.pcusa.org/offering/peace-global-witness/.

Thank you!!

A Huge Thank You to everyone that helped organize and volunteered on Olde Suckasunny Day. Our PW once again sold their cookies, the Mission team served Walking Tacos to benefit Faith Kitchen, games were organized and played with many hands making this all happen. Seltzer wa-ter and juice boxes were donated, as well as prizes for games. Cemetery tour tickets were sold and an Earth Care table encouraged people to participate in community art by making a mosaic out of plastic bottle tops. Our church his-torical fiction books were available for purchase and much organizing occurred for the vendors to have space to sell their items. We hosted Habitat for Humanity and Home De-pot came with bird feeders for families to make. This event is truly a team effort! ~ Pastor Carie
