A Message From The Chairman Hello, API Members!
I come to you this month with good news. We will be meeting for dinner this
month at 1933 Prohibition Center. The meeting will be on Tuesday, October
20, 2020 with social starting at 6:00 PM, followed by dinner at 7:00 and our
after-dinner speaker at 8:00. Believe it or not, our last dinner meeting of this
year was in March, and I am looking forward to seeing the API members that
I haven’t seen in several months. We are planning to gather on the south
patio at 1933, but we may be able to move indoors if circumstances have
improved by the date of our meeting. Since we are not completely out of the
COVID woods yet, we will have to limit our attendance, so sign up early on our website here:
October Dinner Meeting.
We will have our State Representative Vince Fong at the meeting to address us after dinner, and
he is always loaded with information. You don’t want to miss him, and you can read more about
him in the newsletter.
And here is some more good news. The golf tournament is definitely happening on Friday,
October 23, 2020! The tournament will take place at Stockdale and Sundale Country Clubs, with
check-in starting at 7:00 AM and golf starting at 8:00 AM. It has been a long time since you signed
up, so please get your players lined up again, and confirm the golf course on which you signed up.
Our starters will be calling the team captains shortly before the tournament date to confirm your
golf course and your attendance. If you have questions about your golf course assignment you can
contact David Budy at [email protected] or Jeff Hanson at
[email protected]. If you have other questions call Jim Roberts at (661) 805-5766.
So, there is some good news. We haven’t given up and neither should any of you. Keep hanging in
there to produce the energy that fuels California, and thank you for hanging with us and supporting
the San Joaquin Valley Chapter of API! Your support benefits many Kern County students with
scholarships, many Kern County residents with food support through the Golden Empire Gleaners,
and many California youth through our support of R. M. Pyles Boys Camp.
I love to hear your feedback. Please feel free to call or email your comments or suggestions to (661) 330-0423, [email protected], or [email protected].
I look forward to seeing you all at the October 20 dinner meeting and the October 23 golf
tournament!

We have it on good advice that we will finally be able to get together for the annual
golf tournament! After two postponements, but never giving up on the tournament, we
will actually be able to pull it off on Friday, October 23, 2020 at Sundale Country Club
and Stockdale Country Club.
We cannot take any more new teams because we sold out early in the year, but all of
the teams that have already signed up are eligible to play.
Team Captains should advise your players to be ready to play on October 23, 2020.
You can show up for your hole assignments and goodie bags at 7:00 AM followed by
an 8:00 AM shotgun start.
All sponsors and BBQ stations should contact Jim Roberts to confirm your participa-
tion. You can call Jim at (661) 805-5766.
For any other questions, contact Jim Roberts.
We look forward to a long needed and well-deserved good time!

API Social Sponsorship
The American Petroleum Institute SJV Chapter is actively looking for networking social sponsorships. These
networking socials help to build relationships, market products or services, and promote a positive outlook on
the local oil and natural gas industry.
Sponsoring a social will include the following
Email distribution of your company name to the API contact list (600+ indus-
try related emails)
Company logo and promotional items can be promoted at sign in/raffle table
during the social
Social event turnout is typically 40-60 industry related people
Event will be promoted at API general meeting and API newsletter (600+ industry related emails)
Possibility to have joint social with SPE (Society Petroleum Engineers) which will include their
email distribution/newsletter promotion
Social Sponsorship Cost
Cost can range from $600 - $2,000+
Lower end sponsorships typically do not involve a private room secluded for the event but more of a
brewery type setting providing appetizers or food for guest
Higher end sponsorships will typically have a private room (petroleum club, 1933) or any place that will
accommodate the event (providing appetizers/Dinner/Alcohol or what is within the budget)
We can work with any budget
If sponsorship costs are too high, we can look to host a co-sponsor social (you and another company) cost split in half
For more information please contact:
Chad Horton – [email protected] (562) 481- 4235
American Petroleum Institute does not charge or profit for setting up social events
