Taking Medicine at School

The Woodhaven Brownstown School

District policy prohibits schools person-

nel from giving any medications to students with-

out written permission from the parents and written

directions from the physician. This includes non-

prescription, over-the-counter medication such as

aspirin and cough syrup. There will be no excep-

tions. The medication MUST be in the bottle from

the pharmacy with the name of the medicine and

the dosage clearly labeled. It must be kept in the

school office and administered by the building prin-

cipal or his designee.

Box Tops and Campbell’s Labels for Education

Please keep saving your BOX TOPS from General Mills, Betty Crocker, Pillsbury,

Kleenex and Ziploc products. Also a reminder, please save Campbell’s Labels for Education points on specially marked products. This also in-

cludes Pepperidge Farm, Prego and Swanson products as well.

Grandparents and extended family can even join in by collecting these items that result in money and items for our school pro-

grams! Your participation and assistance are greatly appreciat-

ed. We collect enough labels for the school to get hundreds of dollars to fund many fun activities for our kids. Thanks! It’s

also helpful if the labels come pre-trimmed.

Visiting Your Child’s School

Every visitor to a school must register at the school office.

Upon signing in, you will need to fill out a Visitor’s Name Tag and wear it while you are in the

school building. To minimize disruptions during the instructional time and to provide for stu-

dent safety, we ask that all parents and visitors adhere to the following guidelines:

If your child is late to school, he/she should report to the office to sign in. We ask that parents

say good-bye at the office and send their child to class. If you would like your child to be

accompanied to class, please notify the office and we will be happy to escort your child to

his/her classroom.

2. Please do not “drop in” to meet with a teacher during the school day, unless you have

made prior arrangements with the teacher.

3. If you need to bring a forgotten lunch, backpack or other item, please bring it to the office

with your child’s name and teacher’s name identifying the item. We will make sure items

are delivered to classrooms.

4. When your child needs to leave early for an appointment during the school day, we will

call the classroom when you arrive and your child will meet you in the office. If your child

is leaving before the end of the day, please notify the teacher, by means of a written note,

of your plans. You will need to sign your child out in the office before leaving. We ask that

individuals picking up student from school provide the office with a photo ID.

5. Please do not enter playground areas to locate your child. When you report to the office,

we can contact playground supervisors via walkie-talkies to locate your child and then

send him or her to the office. We thank you in advance for your cooperation with these

guidelines and help in preserving a safe and productive learning environment.

Technology Resources Mrs. Regan—My students in grades 3—5 are using a new

tool called Google Classroom. It is brand new and was

rolled out September 2014. It has the ability for stu-

dents/teachers and parents to connect very easily. I will

be putting technology assignments on the classroom page as

well as other links that students may benefit from in other

content areas such as science, math, social studies or

writing. Students will not receive homework assignments

from me but they can always feel free to interact with the

Google classroom at home.

Ask you child to log into their google classroom for you.

The login is the same as the computer login they have

except

for it

Second grade reported (actually in Sep-

tember) that they had collected Wooly

Bear Caterpillars to predict the upcom-

ing winter. We can’t wait to hear what

the caterpillars predict.
