Real life, real learning, real business: establish, operate, grow and sustain your small businessOn successful completion of this programme, students will have skills and knowledge that may include, but is not limited to the following:

▶ Carry out a process that requires a range of skills. ▶ Employ a broad knowledge base in business incorporating some

TIMETABLEYour study time will be made up of non-contact time (your own individual study time).

NON-CONTACT TIMEStudents should plan to spend approximately 600 hours of online learning time to complete this programme.

ENTRY CRITERIAYou must be aged 16 or over.

There are no mandatory pre-requisites to meet regulatory body or legislative requirements for this course.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Computer literacy is highly recommended in order to be able to cope with the digital components of the courses.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTSApplicants whose first language is not English must have an acceptable level of English language fluency prior to enrolment in the programme. This may be demonstrated in a variety of ways, including schooling in New Zealand, completion of the relevant New Zealand Certificate in English Language, approved scores on IELTS tests or completion of accepted international equivalents. Specific scores for IELTS and New Zealand Certificates in English Language are as follows:

▶ IELTS 5.5 General or Academic (no band score lower than 5)

▶ NZCEL Level 3 with an endorsement of either General, Workplace, or Academic

For acceptable alternatives refer to the English Proficiency Outcomes Chart.

ENTRY WITH CREDITYou may already have some knowledge or skills that can be recognised as part of your intended study. This may take a number of different forms e.g., study at a private training establishment, workplace training, other tertiary study, life experiences or voluntary work. If you think you may qualify, you may want to apply for Cross Credit or Recognition of Prior Learning.

▶ Cross Credit is based on the equivalency of courses or qualifications. You would apply for Cross Credit if you have passed a very similar course at the same level.

▶ Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is based on the assessment of your current knowledge and skills. You would apply for RPL if you had gained the relevant knowledge and skills through life experiences and informal learning situations.

You will be asked to provide details of anything that you would like considered as credit toward your intended programme of study, as part of your application.

You must apply prior to enrolment. RPL and Cross Credit cannot be awarded for a course if you are enrolled in that course. An original transcript or notice of results from the institute at which you previously studied (or verified copies) will be required for all applications.

ASSESSMENTSAssessments may include online assignments, tests and portfolio tasks. Assessment is continuous throughout the program.

Our team works hard to provide a supportive learning environment and through our virtual campus we are available to answer queries, offer a helping hand and guidance when needed.

You will be assigned your own personal advisor who will support and guide you through your learning journey. You will also have access to experienced course facilitators who are dedicated to helping you achieve your study goals.

Your personal advisor will provide a range of support from motivation, technical and study support and advice, to answering general course questions.

Your course facilitator will track your progress within each course. They will provide guidance and feedback on assessments and information on course materials. They will also be available to answer course questions.

STUDENT SERVICES LEVYThe Student Services Levy is a compulsory non-tuition fee that is charged to students enrolled at EIT. The levy is to contribute to the provision of quality student services that support learning. The funds received by EIT from the levy are ring-fenced, meaning they can only be spent on student services.

STUDENT LOANS AND ALLOWANCESStudyLink is a service of the Ministry of Social Development. Apply well before your programme begins (even if you haven't been accepted yet) so you'll be ready to get your payments when you need them most. Check out studylink.govt.nz or phone 0800 88 99 00. A Student Allowance is a weekly payment to help you with living expenses. It doesn't have to be paid back. A Student Loan is made up of three parts – compulsory fees, course-related costs and living costs. You have to pay these back.
