NSS ORIENTATION AND ACTIVITIES 2016-17

An orientation program was organized for the new volunteers on 2nd July 2016 in the college.

The event started at 11:00 am with the prayer song and lamp lighting ceremony by MRS. SREEJA NAIR,

NSS PO, MR. ABHISHEK DANDEKAR and MS. RUPALI ZELE and the NSS student heads. The NSS

volunteers took turns and explained the meaning, motto, events and activities performed by the

NSS Committee throughout the year.

The MAVA camp was explained by Mohit from SYBMS (NSS volunteer). Some ex- volunteers

of NSS was asked to share her experience of 2 years in NSS and the camp organized by NSS.

The NSS convenor and PO, Mr. Abhishek Dandekar introduced the heads for the year 2016- 17

followed by which the heads took the oath under the guidance of PO of NSS, Mr. Abhishek Dandekar.

Lastly , the events concluded at 12:00 pm with the National Anthem.

SWACH BHARAT 2016 A Swatch Bharat Abhiyan Drive was initiated by the SIES College of Arts, Science and Commerce (Nerul) with the assistance of NSS committee. The drive started at 11 a.m. by addressing the station manager by all the students. The cleaning staff instructed and guided the students so that they could do the drive in an efficient way. The students were divided into 2 groups. Both the group cleaned their respective side of walls. The people going by appreciated the work done by students. Every student played an important role in the drive. In the end the station manager was felicitated by giving a sapling by Mr. Abhishek Dandekar sir followed by a NSS clap by the students.

TREE PLANTATION EVENT 2016-17 A tree plantation drive was initiated by the SIES COLLEGE OF ARTS, SCIENCE ND COMMERCE (NERUL) with the assistance of NSS committee. The drive started on 28 th July 2016 wherein the volunteers dug the Places allotted to them by MR. SANDEEP JADHAV (ESTATE MANAGER) in the College campus itself and the saplings brought were planted in them. The next day i.e., on 29 th July 2016, the inauguration of tree plantation area was done by the principal Ms. KOEL ROY CHOUDHARY area co-ordinator Mahesh sir from then the NSS volunteers were asked to arrange the saplings in the place dug the previous day by the NSS volunteers.

TREE PLANTATION DRIVE 2016 DATE- 15TH AUGUST, 2016 VENUE- KHARGHAR HILLS

70th year of India’s independence was celebrated uniquely by the volunteers of NSS, conservation club and the student council of SIES College of art, science and commerce (nerul). After the flag hosting and the cultural programme, around 50 volunteers along with heads and program officer of the NSS unit of SIES (nerul) college, RUPALI ZELE gathered and travelled together to the venue. Over 100 saplings were carried by the volunteers through bus to the location. The officials present among which were Subhash Rathod, Morale Sir, Patil Sir who directed the volunteers how to plant the saplings and the importance of nurturing them. The officials applauded and appreciated the hard work and dedication of the volunteers. After the event everybody left respectively. NSS unit of SIES College aimed at a special INDEPENDENCE DAY.

QUIT INDIA MOVEMENT

DATE- 9 TH August, 2016

VENUE- AUGUST KRANTI MAIDAN, CST

The quit india movement program was initiated by the Maharashtra government on 9 th august 2016 at august KRANTI MAIDAN at CST from 10:00 a.m. onwards the main aim of conducting this event was to spread awareness about the event that took place back during 19 TH AUGUST 1942 when india was striving for independence. On this day thousands of people, especially the youth from various schools and colleges from across Mumbai were united to attend the event. NCC and NSS volunteers played major role of audience. HONORABLE CHIEF MINISTER DEVENDRA FADNAVES along with many key speakers motivated the youth with their kind words. There were many cultural performances held. The event ended with national anthem and then refreshments were provided.
