WINDOVER DEVELOPMENT - Breaks Ground on New Dormitory and Arts Center for the Montserrat College of Art.Demolition of the old buildings is complete and foundations are underway for an exciting new residential village inthe heart of downtown Beverly for the Montserrat College of Art. This project is being delivered under a design/buildcollaboration between Windover Construction of Manchester, MA and Siemasko + Verbridge Architects of Beverly,MA. The project is a unique grouping of two, three, and four story buildings designed to blend with the surroundingneighborhood. A modern steel and glass connector serves as gathering space for students, as well as an art galleryfor exhibitions. The lowest level is designed as flexible studio space allowing use in a variety of art mediums.Montserrat College of Art President Dr. Helena J. Sturnick said, “This project speaks to the culture of our college; alittle off-center, a little quirky, a place for students and faculty to come together, all while being a responsible stewardof our natural environment.” Montserrat College of Art’s new residential village will be completed in August 2009, justin time for students returning in the fall.
