Stage 1 of the geothermal bore project, which involved digging a test hole to ascertain if geothermal heating was a viable option, has delivered a positive outcome.

During Stage 2 of the project the test-hole, comprising a 1,000 metre deep bore, will be converted to a production bore to provide heat to the pools as part

of the redevelopment of the $26 million Armadale Aquatic Centre.

The design of the facility is progressing, with the tender documents for the construction currently underway.

Armadale Golf CourseArmadale Golf Course is a 9-hole course located in a beautiful Bush Forever environment next to the Forrestdale Lake.

The course has undergone a complete upgrade of all greens, tees and fairways, minor kiosk improvements, site power and fresh water upgrades, complete replacement and upgrade of the irrigation system and a new maintenance and buggy shed. The improvements were delivered by the City of Armadale in partnership with Golf Oracle and the Department of Sport and Recreation.

The course is expected to reopen in November, offering a quality facility for City of Armadale residents and visitors to enjoy.

The facility upgrade was made possible through assistance from the State Government Community Sport and Recreation Facilities fund, the City of Armadale and Golf Oracle.

You can find Armadale Golf Course on the Golf Oracle website at www.golforacle.com.au or the City’s website.

The City piloted a youth career development program called Armadale Aspire, modelled on the Kwinana Industries Council’s award-winning Education Partnership Programs for Year 10 students.

Students from six local high schools (Armadale SHS, Carey Baptist College, Cecil Andrews College, Kelmscott Senior High School, Roleystone Community College and Southern Hills Christian College) participated in the program which involved industry tours coupled with career development workshops.

The program provided students with valuable job-readiness skills such as resume writing, job interview techniques and preparation, presentation, etiquette and more.

Armadale Aspired!

The City of Armadale encourages healthy active lifestyles and provides a wide range of opportunities for physical activity.

Outdoor exercise equipment is located in a number of parks within the City and best of all it is FREE to use and available all year round.

To find an outdoor fitness station near you visit the City’s website and download the flyer – it even has information on suggested warm-ups, strength building and essential stretching.

At the conclusion of the pilot program, three students were offered work experience and mentoring placements. All participants were recognised for their achievement, commitment and enthusiasm at a formal Graduation.

A review of the playground design, surrounding residential development, and proximity of the existing playground to a major highway prompted the City to relocate the play area further south adjacent to Paterson Road.

The new playground is inspired by the tranquil natural features of the winter stream, to encourage imaginative play in a natural environment. Works included a junior and all abilities swing, a new timber play bridge and tepee by the stream, integration of a new embankment slide into the naturally undulating ground and seating in various peaceful shady locations.

Congratulations to Kevin Brinks a recipient of the 2017 City of Armadale’s Annual Scholarship Scheme for students attending a Senior High School in the district of Armadale.

A record number of residents who have lived in the district for more than 50 years attended the annual Pioneers’ Reunion in October.

The reunion provides an occasion for attendees to reconnect with old neighbours, friends and fellow members of sporting and community groups from years gone by.

If you have lived in the City of Armadale for 50 years and have not attended a reunion, contact the City with your details on 9394 5000 and we will look forward to seeing your there next year.
