With more than 33 years of clinical expertise, Ms. Blackmore joins the company as hand therapy national coordinator in the Philadelphia and southeastern PA markets. She will work with NovaCare to enhance its already established hand therapy program. Ms. Blackmore will also share best practices, develop national hand therapy protocols and assist with recruiting clinicians in hand therapy. Mr. Walsh brings more than 34 years of experience focused on upper extremity dysfunction patient care and serves with the hand therapy team in southern New Jersey. “Offering patients the very best hand rehabilitation program begins with an outstanding clinical team,” said Dan Bradley, P.T., president of Select Medical’s outpatient division. “We employ 139 full-time and 27 part-time hand therapists. She is an ongoing contributor in many publications, including Surgery and Rehabilitation of the Hand, has co-authored research alongside several prominent hand physicians, taught at the University level and mentored in clinical therapy fellowships. (ASHT) annual meetings. In addition, she has been the conference co-chair for the Surgery and Rehabilitation of the Hand Symposium – Philadelphia meeting since 2000, the chair for the ASHT International Committee and is part of the educational committee of the American Association of Hand Surgery.

Mr. Walsh was a partner in a private practice and served as the clinic director before joining the NovaCare team. A nationally recognized author of more than 20 journal and book chapters related to the hand and upper extremity rehabilitation, Mr. Walsh has been invited to present at many lectures and conferences throughout the country. He has also presented original research in the areas of edema and extensor tendon management in the hand.

Mr. Walsh presently serves on the editorial board for the Journal of Hand Therapy and was the co-editor for the special edition focused on pain. He serves as a board member of the Hand Rehabilitation Foundation, has been a charter active member of the ASHT since 1981 and has served on ASHT’s national board for five years as its educational director. Mr. Walsh was also selected as an item writer for the initial hand therapy certification examination and has received many professional awards throughout his career, most notably his recognition from the ASHT and the Hand Therapy Certification Committee for contributions to hand therapy.
