KS1: Year 2.1 Assembly I was given a special invitation to the assembly today and what a perplexing time it was! I was very confused about the storyline as it seemed like all the fairy tales were mixed up from Rumpelstiltskin, Bo peep, Snow White, a frog(?), Cinderella, a wicked witch (well there is always a wicked witch!) and a prince (very handsome of course)- well I gave up, this was more difficult than listening to Ms Alise! But what excellent entertainment it was, and KS1 and the parents thoroughly enjoyed it. I must mention that the children, although so young, spoke beautifully and danced so well (I need to take lessons from them). Many thanks to Ms Aarti and Ms Sarah for providing the inspiration!

Year 2.1 showing us how it is done!

Please note the GIP 2018-19 Academic Calendar is available to download from the school’s website.

Book Week is next week and Baker Books are back! You should receive the magazine today – please buy books as 25% of your purchases will provide books for our libraries

Cambridge examinations 2018 at GIP: we are entering 133 candidates in the June examination session and 508 entries (across Checkpoint and IGCSE / Years 6, 9, 10 and 11)

The Secondary school ‘Active Zone’ Educational Visit (Wednesday 23 - Saturday 26 May 2018) planning is now underway – details of individual year group visits will be going out to parents before the April holiday.

The Secondary end of term 2 reports will be issued slightly later than originally scheduled as we have been busy working on setting up our reports in a new software system. Use of the new software system will mean that going forward parents will be able to view and download their child’s reports online via a parent portal.

As such, the end of term 2 Secondary reports will go out to parents on Monday 26 March, with Secondary Parent Teacher Conferences rescheduled for Tuesday 27 and Wednesday 28 March. Thank you for your understanding as we work towards making accessing feedback on your child’s progress and attainment easier for you!

In the Primary foyer we have created a Wishing Tree and we would like to encourage all students, staff and parents to bring in a ribbon to tie to the tree and make a wish. Who knows what wishes and dreams this year will see come true for us all!

Can you support the Wizard of Oz? Parent Volunteers required? Our school production is quickly approaching and we have teams of staff and students working behind the scenes on props and costumes.

If you would be able to help or support either of these teams and would like to share your creative talents, please can you contact Ms Michell for costumes – [email protected] or Ms Claire for props – [email protected]. Your help and support is greatly appreciated.

I would like to congratulate all the students who participated whether they got a medal or not – we are proud they are representing our school. I would also like to thank all the parents who supported the GEMS teams throughout the MSSPP competitions and of course, the PE teachers Mr G / Mr Bazeegh and also Ms Lyn who did a wonderful job of organising the transport, food and providing back-up where necessary. All in all, a great school team effort!
