December 2016 Archbishop Molloy High School 1 Not for school but for life December 2016 Dear Stanner Families, It is my pleasure to write to you during this season of Advent as we prepare to celebrate Christmas. During this time of anticipation and giving the charity and volunteer work of our students has been particularly heartwarming. In addition to our numerous ongoing service initiatives, we have seen great enthusiasm from our students on a number of seasonal activities. They have shown a wonderful sense of generosity with their support of our Christmas Toy Drive while our Freshman- Sophomore Chorus helped spread the Christmas spirit by performing at the Bayside Senior Center. The upcoming year promises to be very exciting as it will feature multiple celebrations here at Molloy. January 2nd marks the 200th anniversary of the founding of the Marist Brothers. Parents are encouraged to tweet #MillionMarists across social media platforms in order to help make our Bicentennial celebration a world wide trending event. A day of service will be the centerpiece of our Spirit Week. It will highlight a number of events designed to acknowledge and celebrate 200 years of Marists making Jesus Christ known and loved around the globe. The year 2017 also marks the 125th anniversary of St. Ann’s/ Archbishop Molloy. We will have a wonderful kickoff event in March followed by a series of celebratory events throughout the year. In closing, I would like to thank you for your participation in our parent-teacher evening and for your continued support of our Walkathon and Christmas concerts. Your support is a gift for which we are truly thankful. On behalf of President Karsten, our administration, faculty, and staff I would like to wish all of you a joyful Christmas and a very happy New Year! Sincerely, Darius Penikas Principal

Not for school but for life December 2016

Dear Stanner Families,

It is my pleasure to write to you during this season of Advent as we prepare to celebrate Christmas. During this time of anticipation and giving the charity and volunteer work of our students has been particularly heartwarming. In addition to our numerous ongoing service initiatives, we have seen great enthusiasm from our students on a number of seasonal activities. They have shown a wonderful sense of generosity with their support of our Christmas Toy Drive while our Freshman-Sophomore Chorus helped spread the Christmas spirit by performing at the Bayside Senior Center.

Sincerely,

Darius Penikas Principal

Molloy is pleased to invite you to the first event of the new year, our annual Br. Ron Marcellin Scholarship Dinner on Sunday, January 15th, 2017. This dinner, which is hosted by Mike McGuire ’81 and our friends at Trinity Bar & Restaurant in Floral Park, pays tribute to the memory of Br. Ron Marcellin ’52, a beloved Marist Brother remembered for his affection for music, his passion for teaching, and the way he counseled each student with the same selflessness and care. The Br. Ronald Marcellin Committee, which includes many dedicated alumni, has organized this event annually for many years with the goal of raising money to help future Stanners in Br. Ron’s name. Funds raised by this event directly and significantly benefit students and families in need.

A 50/50 raffle and live auction will be among the festivities while dinner, beverages, and great company are also included. The 50/50 raffle tickets will be available for purchase during the event or in advance by emailing [email protected].

Alumni and parents are invited to join us on Friday, February 3rd, 2017 for a special reception featuring food, beverages, and other refreshments. The event will also feature VIP access to reserved seating on the stage in the Jack Curran Gymnasium as our boys Varsity basketball team takes on St. Francis Prep. This is expected to be a sellout game, so if you’re looking for a great opportunity to catch the action, this reception is the perfect way to root for our Stanners. More information will be shared soon. Bring a friend and save the date! Special thanks to our Alumni Badges Network for sponsoring this event.
