1 yard Norton Christmas panel, SB20168-560 • 1 rectangle 17" x 21 3/4" from center section • 2 rectangles 11" x 7 1/2" from top/bottom sections • 4 rectangles 7" x 7 1/2" from corner sections 3/8 yard Yellow dot, SB20171-340 • 2 strips 1 1/2" x WOF; cut into (2) 21 3/4" strips, (2) 15 1/2" strips and (2) 1 1/2" squares • 3 strips 1 3/4" x WOF; cut into (2) 21 3/4" strips, (2) 19 1/4" strips and (2) 5" strips 1/2 yard Red dot, SB20171-560 • 1 strip 3" x WOF; cut into (3) 3" squares and (2) 3" x 3 5/8" rectangles • 4 strips 2" x WOF; cut into (2) 35 3/4" strips and (2) 34" strips for first border 1 yard Green dot, SB20171-840 • 1 strip 3" x WOF; cut into (5) 3" squares and (1) 2 1/2" x 3" rectangle • 4 strips 2" x WOF; cut into (2) 38 3/4" strips and (2) 35" strips for second border • 6 strips 2 1/4" x WOF for binding

Piecing the Quilt Center Note: Use a 1/4" seam allowance for all stitching. Refer to the exploded quilt center diagram on the next page

throughout the following steps.

1. Referring to the exploded quilt center diagram on the next page, sew 6 assorted 3" squares together and add a 3" x 3 5/8 rectangle to each end to make the 3" x 21 3/4" left pieced strip. Press seams to 1 side. Repeat to make the right pieced strip.

2. Stitch a 1 1/2" x 21 3/4" yellow dot strip and then a 1 1/2" x 21 3/4" white tonal strip to the right edge of the

left pieced strip. Press seams toward the yellow and white strips. Repeat with 1 3/4" x 21 3/4" yellow dot and white tonal strips on the left edge of the left pieced strip to complete the 7 1/2" x 21 3/4" left border. Press seams toward the yellow and white strips.

3. Repeat step 2 with the right pieced strip, sewing the 1 1/2" strips to the left edge of the pieced strip and the

1 3/4" strips to the right edge of the pieced strip to complete the 7 1/2" x 21 3/4" right border.

4. Sew the borders to the right and left sides of the large panel rectangle. Press seams toward the panel rectangle.

5. Stitch a 1 1/2" yellow dot square to 1 end of a 1 1/2" x 14 1/2" white tonal strip. Press seam toward the square. Sew a 1 1/2" x 15 1/2" yellow dot strip to 1 long side. Press seam toward the yellow strip. Add a 2 1/2" x 3" print rectangle to 1 end of the pieced strip. Press seam toward the print rectangle. Repeat to make a second strip.

6. Sew 7 assorted 3" squares together to make a 3" x 18" pieced strip. Repeat to make a second pieced strip. Stitch a pieced strip to the yellow side of the white/yellow strips. Press seams toward the pieced strips. Add a 1 3/4" x 5" yellow dot strip to 1 end of each pieced strip. Press seams toward the pieced strips.

7. Stitch a 1 3/4" x 19 1/4" yellow dot strip to 1 long edge of each pieced strip. Press seams toward the yellow dot strips. Add a 1 3/4" x 6 1/4" white tonal strip to the yellow end of each strip. Press seams toward the yellow ends. Sew a 1 3/4" x 20 1/2" white tonal strip to the long yellow edge of each pieced strip to complete (2) 7 1/2" x 20 1/2" pieced border sections. Press seams toward the white tonal strips.

8. Referring to the exploded quilt center diagram, sew an 11" x 7 1/2" panel rectangle to 1 end of each pieced border section to complete the top and bottom border strips. Press seams toward the rectangles. Stitch the strips to the top and bottom of the large panel rectangle to complete the 31" x 35 3/4" quilt center, carefully matching the ends of the yellow, white and pieced strips from border to border.

Completing the Quilt Note: Refer to the Exploded Quilt Diagram on the last page throughout the following steps.

1. Sew the 2" x 35 3/4" red dot strips to the long sides of the quilt center and the 2" x 34" strips to the top and

bottom. Press seams toward the strips.

2. Stitch a 2" x 38 3/4" green dot strip to a 6" x 38 3/4" red snowflake strip. Press seam toward the red strip. Repeat to make a second pieced strip. Sew the strips to the long sides of the quilt center. Press seams toward the strips.

3. Sew a 2" x 35" green dot strip to a 6" x 35" red snowflake strip. Press seam toward the red strip. Stitch a 7" x 7 1/2" panel rectangle to each end of the strip to make the top border strip. Press seams toward the rectangles. Repeat to make the bottom border strip. Sew the strips to the top and bottom of the quilt center to complete the top. Press seams toward the strips.

4. Remove the selvage edges from the 60" backing pieces. Join the pieces on the long edges with a 1/2" seam allowance. Press seam open. Trim the edges to make a 55" x 60" backing piece.

5. Layer, quilt, and bind using your favorite methods and the green dot binding strips, to complete the quilt.
