Running one of the most scenic running race routesin the entire southeastern United States, the NortheastGeorgia Harvest Run 2011 reached a record number ofparticipants in the event that featured a 1/2 Marathon,5K Road Race, and a 1-mile fun walk in Union County- Blairsville.
The start and finish line for each event was inMeeks Park, the site for the 5th race in a series ofNEGA runs that began in the Fall 2009.
Runners from the All Marine Corps Airstation(Beaufort, SC) were part of the 122 participants.
The 1st Place runners were: Blake Beardon in the1/2 male marathon (1 hour, 31 minutes, 3 seconds -1:31:03), Katie Dunn in the female 1/2 Marathon(1:45:25), Frank Cline in the male 5K Race (17 min-utes, 30 seconds - 17:30) and Shawnda Martin in the

female 5K Race (21:52). The runners were from BallGround, Flowery Branch, Robbinsville (NC), andFontana Dam respectively.
A Blairsville mother and daughter, Sharon andAlyssa Arnold, took 2nd Place and 3rd Place in the 5K.In the male 5K, Irvin Portugual of Robbinsville was2nd and Jeremy Webb was 3rd.
In the female 1/2 marathon, 2nd Place went toLoraine Hillard of Flowery Branch and 3rd Place wascaptured by Corinne Loomis of Marietta.
In the male 1/2 marathon, Greg Childs of Murphy(NC) took the 2nd Place trophy and Ricardo Acevedo(Marine Corps Airstation) of S. Clara (CA) claimedthe 3rd Place trophy.
The NEGA Spring Run is the 1st Saturday of Apriland the NEGA Harvest Run is the 4th Saturday in Sep-tember.
