Dear Friends,
Last month, we hosted the NDCC Town Hall Meeting at TheGrowhaus. Residents received updates on different NDCCprojects and also participated in a lively conversation on foodsystems in GES. Facilitated by Blake Angelo from the Office ofEconomic Development (OED), the discussion included briefoverviews of existing food programs in GES followed by inputand recommendations by residents regarding thecommunity's needs for food access in the neighborhood. Input gathered at this round table discussion will help guidethe work of OED in its efforts to support organizations andbusinesses that directly address community challenges. OEDhas also committed to releasing the first of its kind GEShealthy food challenge, a onetime request for proposals(RFP) intended to stimulate innovation and to directlyaddress healthy food opportunities and challenges discussedat the NDCC round table. We will share more information with you as we makeprogress to address this challenge in GES. Thank you to thosewho attended. We will be announcing a date soon for aDecember Town Hall Meeting to end the year.

East Rail Line gets a bigtest from RTD Friday andSaturday, The Denver
of Economic Development in International Trade (OEDIT)earlier this year. The City presented its application for theRegional Tourism Act (RTA) to the Economic DevelopmentCommission on Monday, October 5th at the ColoradoConvention Center, Four Seasons Ballroom. The Citypresented in the afternoon and as part of that presentation,a public comment was included offering citizens and partnersan opportunity to make a brief testimonial. The EDC will make its final funding recommendation inNovember. Stay tuned for more information.
First Property Being PurchasedThe City is acquiring its first parcel located within theboundaries of the future NWC campus. The 4‐acre site and72,000 SF warehouse was formerly occupied by InternationalPaper, who choose to close the Denver operations.

Discover Denver citywide building survey comes to Globeville and Elyria‐SwanseaDiscover Denver, a project to identify historic andarchitecturally significant structures citywide, will continue itsbuilding survey work in the Globeville and Elyria‐Swanseaneighborhoods. The 2014 Globeville Neighborhood Plan andthe 2015 Elyria & Swansea Neighborhoods Plan recommendidentifying historic resources and promoting the adaptive useof significant buildings, in order to preserve theneighborhoods' identity and unique character. Historic Denver, Inc. and the City and County of Denver areleading this collaborative project, funded mainly by a grantfrom History Colorado. The citywide survey of 160,000buildings has thus far included neighborhoods like HarveyPark, Park Hill, Berkeley, Cole and Jefferson Park. A smallportion of the Globeville neighborhood along the East 45thAvenue commercial district was also surveyed in 2014. As in these neighborhoods, the citywide survey will gatherinformation about buildings in Globeville, Elyria and Swanseausing public records, neighborhood canvassing, academicresearch, and tips from the public. Findings from this first‐ever citywide survey of Denver will eventually be accessibleonline so that everyone can learn about our city's past ‐building by building. Most residents and business owners in the survey area willexperience minimal ‐ if any ‐ impact from Discover Denversurveyors. Discover Denver will first review publicly‐availabledata (such as assessor records) on all properties and buildingsthat are more than 30 years old will be surveyed in the field.You may see Discover Denver volunteers walking throughoutthe neighborhood, taking notes on paper or tablet, andsnapping photos from the street or sidewalk. Volunteers willhave project‐specific identification and should identifythemselves to you if asked. Volunteers will survey everybuilding in the area; however, you are not obligated toparticipate in any way or to allow anyone access to yourproperty. No one associated with Discover Denver will enteror access your property without your permission. If you wish to participate in the survey, we encourage you totalk to Discover Denver volunteers and share information orphotos, or point out architecturally significant elements of abuilding that you own. Many property owners enjoyexchanging information with survey workers ‐ to learn more

Clinica Tepeyac Expands In September, Clinica Tepeyac hosted a communitycelebration to showcase their new expansion and renovationof the clinic. Through financial assistance from the Office ofEconomic Development and other donors, the organizationwas able to add new patient rooms allowing them theopportunity to serve more patients. The celebration includedtours with staff, a reception and entertainment.
Brighton Blvd. Redevelopment Corridor
Brighton Blvd. Redevelopment (29th ‐ 44th)The Brighton Boulevard Redevelopment Project is working tofinalize design by the end of the year with constructionexpected to begin in 2016. The City is continuing tocoordinate closely with the RiNo BID and GID, as well asadditional stakeholders to finalize planning. The next publicmeeting will be held on Tuesday, November 17th from 5:30‐7:30 PM at the Summit Church (3300 Larimer Street) in RiNo.The team will update the community on the design andgather additional feedback. Kiewit Construction, which wasselected through a competitive RFP process to oversee theimplementation of Brighton and other projects in the region,will be introduced at the public meeting.
The Source Hotel Breaks Ground On September 16th, The Source Hotel officially broke groundwith a community celebration. This $41 million project nextto The Source will include 100 rooms, a market space similarto The Source and a parking garage. New Belgium will alsohave a brew house on the ground floor of the hotel. This isthe first hotel in RiNo and is expected to open in 2017.

River North (RiNo)
35th St. Visioning ProjectThe City is working closely with community stakeholders inthis visioning effort that is intended to enhance multi modalmovements and water quality as well as improve accessbetween the 35th ‐ 36th Pedestrian Bridge and the RiNoPedestrian Bridge. The conceptual phase of the project ismeant to focus on innovative design and will consideroptions beyond standard City requirements. You are invitedto come and learn more about the planning effort andprovide input on initial concepts on October 15th from 5:30 ‐7:30PM at a joint RiNo Park Open House. River North Park Join Denver Parks & Recreation and the North DenverCornerstone Collaborative to view preliminary concepts forRiver North Park and the South Platte Promenade. Platte to Park Hill: Stormwater SystemDrainage is a concern that has been previously identified byneighborhood planning processes and technical assessmentsas a significant challenge to the people who live, work andtravel through North Denver. The Platte to Park Hill:Stormwater Systems project will provide much needed 100‐year flood event protection, enhanced multimodalconnectivity, water quality, innovative placemaking, andother improvements to the Cole, Globeville, Elyria, Swansea,River North, Clayton and Northeast Park Hill neighborhoods.Join us at the first public meeting!

Community Volunteers Needed‐Come helpCDOT design elements of the proposed I‐70East Project!The I‐70 East Project will include a number of elements suchas gateways, noise walls, and bridges. CDOT wants to ensurethat these structures reflect the character of yourneighborhood.
CDOT is seeking community members, including localresidents, neighbors, and business owners, to serve on aCommunity Design Advisory Committee to help the CDOTteam develop visual preferences for elements of the corridor.Only you can confirm what is visually important to youpersonally and to your community.

First Section of RFP ReleasedCDOT and the High Performance Transportation Enterprise(HPTE) announced the public release of the first section ofthe Request for Proposals (RFP) for the I‐70 East Project. Thispublic release is another step in CDOT and HPTE'scommitment to increase public participation activities, aswell as process improvements to be more efficient andtransparent over the past year. The Request for Proposals (RFP), is one of the most importantelements in a highly competitive selection process to select adeveloper for the I‐70 East Project. CDOT is seeking adeveloper team to design and construct the project as well asto operate and maintain the corridor over an extendedperiod. The RFP lays out CDOT's expectations ‐ technical scope,contractual requirements and performance standards for theproject. Four developer teams, which were selected in July2015, will be asked to respond with highly detailedinformation about how they propose to design, build,finance, operate and maintain the I‐70 East Project. Inaddition, teams must provide detailed financial informationand outline how they will ensure transparency and meet thegoals of the state, the general public and impactedcommunities.

The four teams vying for the title of CDOT's developerpartner on the much anticipated I‐70 East project want to getto know you! Your chance to meet with representatives fromthe teams, as well as CDOT project staff, will happen thismonth. CDOT is planning two outreach events on October 22,2015 for small businesses that are sure to generate a buzz.
Professional Services Reverse Trade FairThe first event is a Reverse Trade Fair for DBE and ESBprofessional service firms to showcase their capabilities toteam members one‐on‐one. Design is the first majorcomponent of the project and subconsultant opportunitiesare being considered now. The recently released ITP set out aproposed 11.6% DBE goal on design work and a 3% ESB goal.So, the time is ripe for DBE and ESB consultants to meet theteams. This event is reserved for professional services firms only(e.g., highway and bridge design, engineering, environmental,landscape architecture, surveying, etc.). To participate, allinterested firms must attend a Pre‐Reverse Trade FairMeeting on October 19 or make alternate arrangements(click on the link above for more information). Small Business Networking EventThe second event is open to all small business consultants,contractors, vendors, and industry partners who areinterested in meeting the teams. This open NetworkingSession will offer ample opportunity to learn more abouteach of the key players, talk one‐on‐one with those involvedin the project, and gain an understanding of the RFP processand schedule. It's sure to be the meet and greet event of theyear! Attendees are encouraged to RSVP for each of the events onthe Connect2DOT website.
RTD Station Development
East Rail Line ‐ A Line The first station to open for the future A line between UnionStation and the airport is the Central Park Station. It's alongSmith Road just west of Central Park Boulevard. This new Park‐n‐Ride opened for bus service on Sunday,September 13, 2015. It replaced the existing Stapleton Park‐n‐Ride which permanently closed on Saturday, September 12,2015.

Unlikea light rail vehicle a commuter car will have overheadstorage, luggage racks and bicycle racks.Passengers will be able to walk directly from the stationplatform onto the vehicles without climbing stairs, as eachdoor offers level boarding. This means each vehicle entranceis accessible to wheelchairs, rolling luggage, bicycles, strollersand other large items.

The corridor is one of the most compelling commercial investment opportunities in theworld, with thousands of developable acres. With nine commuter‐rail stations along RTD'sEast Line alone (slated to open in 2016), future plans for the area include transit‐orienteddevelopment with housing, strategic locations for corporate headquarters and abundantoptions for additional open space. The variety of opportunities, both existing and future, make this corridor a focal point forDenver's future economy, with nearly 40,000 new jobs through new and expandedbusinesses and $2.6 billion in economic impact expected over the next three decades,including $13.4 million annually in additional city revenue.

The North Denver Cornerstone Collaborative was founded by Mayor Michael B. Hancock onJanuary 25, 2013. Recognizing a convergence of upcoming projects in the Elyria‐Swansea andGlobeville neighborhoods, the Mayor identified an opportunity to energize a cornerstone of
the Corridor of Opportunity and create an updated gateway to downtown by aligningindividual efforts into one coordinated vision. Kelly Leid manages the general oversight,planning, strategic coordination, financing and implementation of the six primary projects.
