Thanks so much to all those who attended the launch of
Nicole Monks' marlu furniture collection last week. This
launch was the outcome of Nicole’s 12 month mentorship
with ADC and we think the start of a brilliant career telling
Aboriginal stories through her design work. We have some
more stimulating talks coming up before we leave Indigenous
Design. Our final exhibition for the year is Designing Bright
Futures – a selected showcase of UNSW design graduates.
Stay tuned for more details and save the date for the
exhibition opening on 1 December.
Object Shop is well and truly open for business. Loads of
wonderful work by local makers is finding appreciative buyers
(myself included!). With Christmas fast approaching we have
created two special events – a Night Market on Thursday 8
December with 25 makers that we are bringing together for
this one special night to help you to find handmade gifts for
the key people in your lives. Christmas shopping made easy!
On 14 December we will also host a special Object Shop
shopping night with all the makers from our shop and their
friends selling a huge range of work. Definitely not to be
missed.

There are so many people who support us here at ADC to do
the work we do to provide a platform and showcase for
Australian contemporary craftspeople and designers.
Whether it be a donation, a purchase from our shop,
attending an exhibition or event or interacting with us on
social media we appreciate all the connections, feedback and
support we receive. There is a small group of people who
volunteer their time and expertise to sit on the ADC Board
and I would like to acknowledge their immense contribution.
I am delighted to announce that Andrew Simpson, from Vert
Design, has joined our Board this month and we are all
looking forward to working with Andrew on future plans for
the Australian Design Centre.
