DOmESTIC STUDENT INfORmATION

5TH YEAR

Fih year sudens are inroduced o he Leaving

Cericae syllabus and eecive work pracices

expeced a his level o sudy. They cover 75%

o he subjec conen in 5h year lessons, which

will provide an invaluable oundaion or 6h Year.

CAO applicaions, career opions, sudy skills and

individual arge-seting will be supervised by

our suden uors. Sudens will be moniored

academically wih regular esing and coninuous

assessmen in all subjecs.

6TH YEAR/ REPEAT 6TH YEAR

Sixh Year sudens receive our h ours o uiion in

each Leaving Cericae subjec weekly. The Leaving

Cericae syllabus will be covered in ull in he

6h Year. Our eachers are subjec specialiss and

experienced in preparing sudens or he challenges

o he Leaving Cericae examinaions. This will be

a demanding year or all sudens. Our eam o uors

will assess suden progress, discuss grade arges

in each subjec, monior perormance and atendanceand suppor suden needs. Advice and suppor will

be provided or CAO and UCAS applicaions by our

guidance coun sellor.

EXTRA SUBJECTS

Asheld College oers sudens he opporuniy

o sudy an ‘exra’ subjec ha hey may no have

sudied previously. This opion is also available o

exernal sudens. The exra subjec allows sudens

he opporuniy o sudy a subjec ha holds

paricular ineres or hem and, urhermore, oers

valuable opions when i comes o CAO poins. Exrasubjecs are scheduled rom 4.30p.m.-6.30p.m.,

wice weekly (Spanish, Music, Technical Drawing,

Agriculural Science, Home Economics, Applied

Mahs and Classical Sudies). The enire syllabus is

compleed in one year.

The High School Programme (Leaving Cericae) is

designed o prepare Irish and Inernaional sudens

Kingdom. Asheld College has creaed an excepional

communiy by guaraneeing small class-sizes and he

very bes eachers, as well as regular assessmen

wih eedback and addiional uorials when required.

CoURSE ovERviEw

The Leaving Cericae Programme is recognised

by all universiies in Ireland, he U.K. and many oher

counries worldwide. Consequenly, sudens may

apply or any course in hese counries, subjec

o achieving he requisie sandard. Our Guidance

Deparmen will assis sudens hrough he college

admission process.

The Leaving Cericae programme may be

compleed in one or wo years, depending on one’s

level o english and/or previous educaion. Generally,

sudens choose six subjecs rom he lis available.

English and Mahemaics are compulsory. Asheld

College sudens regularly achieve very high grades

and ener presigious universiies in Ireland and

he U.K., sudying a range o disciplines including

Medicine, Denisry, Engineering, Compuing,

Business, and Law.
