No Frills 2015: The iowa Challenge

Meet Your No Frills 2015 Conference Staff!

Emily Braught – Conference Chair

I am in my third year at the University of Iowa. I am majoring in English and Communication Studies and minoring in Gender, Women's, and Sexuality Studies. I intend to pursue a graduate degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs and go on to help students transition from high school to college. Other than academics, I enjoy drinking coffee, eating cupcakes, playing “Would You Rather”, and talking about how awesome the University of Iowa is.

Austin Kinney – Finance Chair

Hello! I am a senior at the University of Iowa. My two majors are Political Science and Economics. I'm currently working on applying to graduate school for a Masters in Public Policy. I love coffee and trying out different roasts. I spend a lot my time at the cafes in downtown Iowa City. I enjoy listening to vinyl and like to talk about jazz, hip-hop, and electronic music. I will challenge anyone to Super Smash Bros.

Jimmy Hicks – Housing Chair

Hey MACURH! I am a senior English major graduating in the spring, and looking to go into Higher Education next fall. I’m looking forward to the energy the NCCs and NRHH Reps will bring to No Frills, and for having a great conference. Molly moo!!

Tom Rigg – Facilities and Dining Chair

Hi! I’m a double major in Psychology and Informatics with a minor in Human Relations. I started in Res Life as president of my hall association my freshman year and attended MACURH, No Frills, and NACURH that year. Since then I have been a Resident Assistant and the Communications Coordinator for our NRHH Chapter.

Abby Drexler - Philanthropy and Volunteers Chair

I'm a Human Physiology Major with a Psychology Minor and planning to pursue a graduate degree in Physical Therapy. I am now a junior involved on campus as a Resident Assistant and a volunteer at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. This past summer I studied abroad in Prague, Czech Republic, where I took classes and got the chance to see some amazing places in Eastern Europe. I am very excited to be serving as the Philanthropy and Volunteers Chair for the No Frills 2015 Conference!

Chuck Ankenbauer – Technology Chair

I am a senior at the University of Iowa majoring in Biology and minoring in Chemistry. I am involved with Burge Hall and its residents as a Resident Assistant. In my free time I enjoy working out, computer programing, listening to music, and figuring out how I will one day be an executive officer at Apple Inc. I also enjoy the company of good friends and taking long walks on the banks of the Iowa River.

Megan Jimmerson – Hospitality Chair

I am a sophomore majoring in Sociology. I am currently a member of the NRHH executive board for the Hawkeye chapter. I am also an RA at the University of Iowa. I love going camping and being outdoors, I love to paint in my spare time, I have three sisters and a brother, and I LOVE ice cream.

Josh Abdo – Marketing and Outreach Chair

I am a sophomore studying Business and Spanish, with the hope of working professionally in the world of Student Affairs. I absolutely enjoy being an RA for Iowa’s REACH Program (a program for students with cognitive and intellectual disabilities) and I am happy to be attending more conferences this year as the NRHH Rep! Soccer is my game and I like doing anything outdoors. I don’t watch much Netflix but my storybook love for the Princess Bride easily makes up for it. If you’re a fan too you would’ve caught the joke.

Ryan McFadden – Co-Advisor

Hey MACURH! As one of the Co-Advisors, I am excited to welcome you to the Hawkeye Country for MACURH No Frills 2015. At this upcoming No Frills Conference, I will be celebrating my 32nd NACURH related conference (and I will be 32 years old, too!). This is my seventh year working at Iowa, and I have the pleasure working with great student leaders such as the No Frills Team. Outside of that, I love Hawkeye wrestling, Transformers, and gyros. Rock On To The Fullest!

Alyssa Lipsiea – Co-Advisor

My name is Alyssa Lipsiea and I am a second year Master’s student pursuing my degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs. I have the awesome opportunity to work with the No-Frills bid-team, work in a Hall of 850 students, and advise a hall association and the First Generation at Iowa group! In my free time I love to run, read, shop, go to Petland to pet puppies, and try all the amazing restaurants that Iowa City has to offer! Thanks for all your hard work; so excited to advise you and to watch your passion!
