Monthly summary on the principal activities of Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs for the month of October, 2018

I. Swachh Bharat Mission i. 526 cities/ towns were declared as Open Defecation free (ODF) during this month. A total of 4,121 cities/towns have been declared as ODF.

ii. 85 lakh citizens are registered on the Swachhata App, 1.40 crore complaints have been registered out of which 1.32 crore complaints have been resolved by end of this month. iii. The Public Toilet locating facility on Google Maps has been implemented in 570 cities with 30,000 toilets mapped so far.

iv. Rs. 26.27 crore has been released to the States during the month.

v. World Habitat Day was celebrated at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi on October 5, 2018 where Hon'ble Minister of State (1/C) launched the "Guidelines on Usage of Refuse Derived Fuel(RDF) in Various Industries" with an aim to promote RDF as co-processing in Cement Kilns.

vi. District Municipal Administrations organized Swachh Survekshan workshops in Karnataka and Odisha, with 800 and 320 officials respectively to understand the components, weightages, revised collection methodology, and other revisions and additions to the Swachh Survekshan 2019. vii. National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA) has conducted 22 three days training cum exposure workshops in various States/UTs on Solid Waste Management where an average of 40 participants were trained in each workshop. The main objectives of the workshops were to understand the Solid Waste Management Rules 2016, to be aware of the various approaches, technologies and their financial implications and others.

viii. The Swachh Survekshan 2019 radio campaign has been running on All India Radio since September 2018 for a period of three months. A series of 30 second spots on various thematic areas such as anti-littering, benefits of home composting, source segregation of waste, finding SBM toilets on Google Maps, plastic waste management, Star Rating Protocol for Garbage Free Cities, etc are presently running on 104 channels of All India Radio including 8 regional channels.

ix. Swachh Manch is the citizen engagement platform under Swachh Bharat Mission where citizens can contribute more actively by Volunteering towards cleaner neighbourhoods with support of their municipal corporations to next level. 'SwachhManch' is the citizen

engagement platform where 25,000 events are posted, 32 lakh people participated and 800 ULBs are on board.

II. Smart Cities Mission i. 98 Smart Cities, including New Town Kolkata during this month, have incorporated their Special Purpose Vehicles. ii. Work was completed in 49 projects worth Rs. 1, 127 crore, work was started for 82 projects worth Rs. 2,772 crore, tenders were issued for additional 49 projects worth Rs. 4,844 crore. With this, 624 projects worth Rs. 35,243 crore have been tendered, 1,103 projects worth Rs. 40,240 crore are under implementation and 519 projects worth Rs. 9,981 crore have been completed.

iii. Rs. 407 crore were released to the States.

iv. The fourth and fifth Implementation workshops were organized in Ranchi and Ahemdabad where 17 and 22 Smart Cities participated respectively to facilitate maximum grounding of projects by 31 December, 2018 across the Mission. v. 6 Project Management Consultants (PMCs) were appointed in Puducherry, Imphal, Oiu, Kamal, Amravati & Port Blair, thus taking the total tally of Smart cities with PMCs to 90. vi. Parliamentary Standing Committee on Urban Development reviewed Smart Cities Mission progress on zs" October, 2018.

Ill HRIDAY

i. The following were approved: a. Approval of Calendar of IEC events in 12 HRIDAY cities. b. Approval of Sustainability Framework for Assets beyond

HRIDAY Scheme Period c. Approval of Rs. 15.55 crore for Varanasi City. d. Approval of Rs. 4.9 crore for Owarka City.

ii. Rs. 4.75 crore was released for the project related to Conservation of the Historic Gates and Improvements in the Heritage Zone 4 in Amritsar.

IV. Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT)

i. State Annual Action Plans (SMPs) to the tune of Rs. 77,640 crore have been finalized for all the States. Detailed project reports for projects costing Rs. 75,985 crore (98% of approved SMP) have been approved. 936 projects worth Rs. 1,847 crore have been completed, contracts have been awarded for 2,892 projects worth Rs. 49,858 crore. 1,248 projects worth Rs. 24,280 crore are under tendering process and Detailed Project reports worth Rs. 3,848 crore are under preparation.

ii. Rs.15,505 crore has been released to States/UTs towards project implementation, Administrative & Office Expenses, Reform Incentive and for formulation of GIS based Master Plans.

V Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana / National Urban Livelihood Mission (DAY/NULM)

i. 43,890 Self Help Groups (SHGs) were formed, 26,426 SHGs were given Revolving Fund, 1,75,762 candidates were skill trained, 83,246 trained candidates were given placement, 42,671 beneficiaries ware assisted with loans for setting up of individual and micro enterprises, and 47,268 loans were given to SHGs under SHG-Bank linkage programme.

VI. Pradan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY)/ Housing for All (HFA)

i. A total of Rs. 34.46 crore have been released during the month.

ii. 62.54 lakh dwelling units in 13,179 projects with an investment of Rs. 3,35,705 crore involving Central assistance of Rs. 95,258 crore have been approved under PMAY. So far, 34,00,319 houses have been grounded for construction and 10,93,900 houses have already been costructed and 10,88,092 houses have been occupied.

iii.Release of Central grant for the States of Andhra Pradesh, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Maharashtra, Nagaland, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal was approved.

VII. Urban Transport i. Union Cabinet has approved the Bhopal & Indore Metro Rail Projects in the State of Madhya Pradesh. ii. The 17.86 km long Shiv Vihar - Trilokpuri Sanjay Lake Section of the 59 km long Majlis Park-Shiv Vihar corridor (Line 7) of Phase-Ill of Delhi Metro, also known as Pink Line, has been inaugurated on 31.10.2018 for commercial operation.

VIII. Housing Division Second Regional Workshop (Southern Region) on Real Estate Regulation and Development Act (RERA)was held on 12.10.2018 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

IX. DELHI MATTERS Modifications to Land Pooling Policy (LPP) and the Regulations to implement the LPP have been notified.

X. NBCC NBCC (India) Ltd. has declared final dividend of Rs. 74.34 crore for the Financial year 2017-18. The total dividend paid to GOI for the FY 2017-18 is Rs. 111.11 crore which includes interim dividend of Rs. 36.77 crore.
