Antigua and Barbuda Bureau of Standards

The Antigua and Barbuda Bureau of Standards wishes to advise the General Public and all stakeholder agencies that effective December 15, 2017 the following standards shall be declared to be Standards, and Antigua and Barbuda Standards, pursuant to section 17 (1) and (3) of the Standards Act (411) of the Revised laws of Antigua and Barbuda, 1992 edition and section 3 (1) of the Standards Regulations 1998. Interested persons can purchase copies of these standards from the Antigua and Barbuda Bureau of Standards Old Parham Road Telephone: 462 2424 Fax: 562 0094 Email: [email protected] 1) ABNS IEC 62552-1: 2015 Household refrigerating appliances – Characteristics and test methods – Part 1:

General requirements (IEC 62552-1: 2015 IDT) Scope: This part of IEC 62552 specifies the essential characteristics of household refrigerating appliances, cooled by internal natural convection or forced air circulation, and establishes test methods for checking the characteristics. For the purposes of declaration, the tests defined in this part of IEC 62552 are considered to be type tests to assess the fundamental design and operation of a refrigerating appliance. This part of IEC 62552 does not define requirements for production sampling or conformity assessment or certification. This part of IEC 62552 does not define a regime for verification testing as this varies by region and country. When verification of the performance of a refrigerating appliance of a given type in relation to this standard is necessary, it is preferable, wherever practicable, that all the tests specified be applied to a single unit. The tests can also be made individually for the study of a particular characteristic.

2) ABNS IEC 62552-2: 2015 Household refrigerating appliances – Characteristics and test methods – Part 2:

Performance requirements (IEC 62552-2: 2015 IDT) Scope:

November 23rd, 2017 THE ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA OFFICIAL GAZETTE No. 86

7

This part of IEC 62552 specifies the essential characteristics of household refrigerating appliances cooled by internal natural convection or forced air circulation, and specifies test methods for checking the characteristics. This part of IEC 62552 describes the methods for the determination of performance requirements. Although there is some commonality in the set-ups for different tests (and so it may be an advantage to apply them all to one sample), these are separate tests to evaluate specific characteristics of the sample being tested. This part of IEC 62552 does not specify a procedure to generalize the results from sample test results to a prediction of the characteristics of the whole population from which that sample was selected. International Standard IEC 62552-1 has been prepared by subcommittee 59M: Performance of electrical household and similar cooling and freezing appliances, of IEC technical committee 59: Performance of household and similar electrical appliances. The National Adoption of this standard was supervised by the National Electrotechnical Committee. 3) ABNS IEC 62552-3: 2015 Household refrigerating appliances – Characteristics and test methods – Part 3:

Energy consumption and volume (IEC 62552-3: 2015 IDT) Scope: This part of IEC 62552 specifies the essential characteristics of household and similar refrigerating appliances cooled by internal natural convection or forced air circulation, and establishes test methods for checking these characteristics.
