• During the 2013 and 2014 seasons, NM State football competed with
less than 70 scholarship student-athletes on the roster (maximum 85)
• The previous coaching staffs focused recruitment on junior college
transfers and this led to a high turnover rate each year
• During the 2015 season, NM State football competed with 72
scholarship student-athletes on the roster
• NM State expects to have 85 scholarship student-athletes for the
2016 season
• The lack of scholarship student-athletes has led to depth issues
compounded by season ending injuries to the starting quarterback,
number one receiver, and four defensive starters.
• A true freshman kicker missed two extra points and a field goal
against Georgia State (lost by 2)
• A 14-point lead over UTEP with 4:07 left in the game
• A 15-point lead over UNM in the 3rd quarter

• In 2014 21 freshmen played and only 4 freshmen redshirted (Coach
Martin’s first recruiting class)
• In 2015 13 freshmen played and 12 freshmen are able to be
redshirted (Coach Martin’s second recruiting class)
• In 2015 four upper classman redshirted due to injury and the starting
quarterback will be granted another year allowing him to compete
for two seasons
• Recruiting student-athletes from north Texas, Dallas and Houston
• A total of 34 student-athletes from Texas (we have the 6th most
Texans on the roster not counting Texas schools)

• Having 12 football teams
creates a balanced east/west
division
• At the fall meeting the
athletic directors supported
playing an 8-game schedule.
An 8-game conference
schedule would be achieved
by playing the 5 teams in your
division and 3 teams in the
other division creating a
competitive and balanced
schedule.
