Genre

The white writing is something that we see in most thriller films therefore that could have purposely been done to signify the fact that the film could be of a psychological thriller genre. This creates a gloomy atmosphere .The white writing is used against the dark background to make it stand out.

Atmosphere

The use of the dull colours used in this opening sequence creates a gloomy atmosphere. The opening also uses shadows and highlighting and contrasting this creates a thrilling atmosphere.

Character

Throughout the frames, the camera has emphasised a characters hands. This shot shows someone drawing a little boy. This is important because it means the boy plays an important part in the film.

Narrative

Throughout the opening sequence the camera shows a character writing and highlighting pieces of text. The character is definitely a man; this is because his hands are very masculine. He is doing some kind of investigation on pictures this allows the audience to have a glimpse of what would happen later on in the film.
