Nine Frame Analysis-The Walking Dead

This is a collective of 9 frame pictures of ‘The Walking Dead’ in which I will go in depth to want these each individual pictures means and represents and therefore what we can gather from these images.

Shot 1- From shot one we can see that there are many ‘abandon’ cars, the look of ‘abandon’ cars are the genre convetions of a thriller as it seems scary and mysterious towards the audience . They are mostly rusty and have either been crashed or broken down, this tells us that the cars have been there for a while hence it is rusty. The most interesting part of frame 1 is

that all the cars are going in one directions, this convey that they are trying to go to a destination or they are trying to run away. The fact that there were many cars going

into one direction suggest something worrying.

Shot 2- In this shot we see a somewhat badge on the floor, a badge identify a person or to indicate membership of an organization or support for a cause. We can assume that this belongs to a sherriff who protects

citizen. This shows that there is no longer protection as the badge is on the floor, the ‘fall’ of the badge shows there was a fall in protection.

Shot 3- In this shot we see 2 arrows, arrows are used to aim at objects, aiming at some certain objects such as animals is seen as hunting. The arrows is presented as weapons which is used for hunting animals as there is limited food. The colour of the arrow is green and black, this is used as it fits in with the background environment.

Shot 4- In this shot we can see a graveyard this is a convection of a thriller genre as it is associated with death. This gives the idea to the audience that it is mostly going to relate to death. The colour green is seen as the colour of germs in addition to that germs are seen as a disease in which disease causes death hence the graveyard.

Shot 5- In this shot we see a image of an eye which is red. The colour red assocciate with blood, murder which are all convection of thriller. Furthermore, this image intimidates the audience with the pupil being a smaller than usual.

Shot 6- In this shot we see an abandon building, a builiding/house is seen as a safe, protected place. Where as this is seen abandon and dirty which suggests nothing is safe nor protected. This brings anxiety to the audience

Shot 7- This a shot of a small single bed. Bed is used for sleep but in this shot it is seen to have been abandon. This suggests that there is no sleep and it has been ‘abandon’, this may be due to the fact that they dont have time to sleep

Shot 8- In this shot we see a prison with fences and a watchout where there is a broken fence. A prison contains criminals, this shot suggests there has been freedom of prisoners and this also suggests that society has broken and everyone has become a criminal

Shot 9- This shot shows the title of the film, ‘The Walking Dead’ which is presented as in clear bold text this shows shows it powerful. This summarises everything what

has happen in all the other shots. This is a typical thriller as it is about the dead a zombie.
