Monday, 19 March, Swan ValleyNI HAO WA 2018

EVENT OVERVIEW Tourism Western Australia (Tourism WA) invites accredited WA product suppliers to participate in Ni Hao WA 2018 to be held in the Swan Valley Region, Western Australia.

China is WA’s largest source market in visitor spend and 6th in visitor arrivals (September 2017, IVS). In the year ending September 2017, 57,000 Chinese visitors spent an estimated $272 million in WA.

Ni Hao, meaning “hello” in Mandarin, welcomes Chinese trade partners to our extraordinary state and aims to strengthen business relationships with key buyers and trade media. The 5th annual Ni Hao WA will take place on Monday, March 19, 2018.

In keeping with the event’s objective of showcasing Perth and the surrounding regions, the Swan Valley has been chosen to host this year’s Ni Hao Event. Located only a short 25 minutes’ drive from Perth City, the Swan Valley is the oldest wine growing region in WA. It is home to food and wine trails offering more than 150 wineries, restaurants, cafes, breweries, distilleries, art galleries, farm gates and a host of other attractions along the way.

Tourism WA will invite 35-40 key outbound travel agents from China and Hong Kong to attend Ni Hao 2018. For the first time, agents from Taiwan will also be invited to participate in the event. As part of Ni Hao 2018, buyers and media will tour the Swan Valley, Perth and various regions as part of a familiarisation program to gain greater product knowledge. Buyers will also participate in a full day business to business workshop at Mandoon Estate and a Gala dinner at Novotel Vines Resort.

Buyers will be selected based on a number of criteria including target segment, product development ability, geographic coverage and business module. Ni Hao WA 2018 will include a market briefing for WA operators, a full day of scheduled appointments with 35-40 key distribution partners and networking functions.

The objectives of Ni Hao WA 2018 are to:

• Provide a cost-effective platform for WA operators to meet and establish business relationships with key buyers from China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

• Provide an entry-level platform for new WA operators who are keen to explore or enter into these markets.

• Increase awareness of WA as a destination and raise the profile of WA tourism product suppliers.

• Provide an update on the latest travel trends and market behaviour in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

• Further strengthen business relationships with key product managers in market.

• Provide agents with a firsthand experience of learning about WA through the famil program.

Registrations for industry participation close on Wednesday, 31 January 2018. All applicants will be assessed against the selection criteria (see page 4).

Successful WA sellers must fully understand and agree to the terms and conditions in order to participate in Ni Hao WA 2018. Tourism WA reserves the right to determine the final WA product representation at the event.
