Mark your calendars now for what will be an amazing regional meeting of the International

Phalaenopsis Alliance.

Our featured guest speaker is the return of one of our most popular speakers, Mike Mims, a hobby-

hybridizer from North Carolina, who has already garnered several AOS awards to his

Phalaenopsis, including a coveted FCC/AOS. Mike has been focusing his breeding program on

fragrant brilliantly colored waxy novelties and this time he has told us he will be bringing seedlings

from some of his newest crosses for sale.

Carri Raven-Riemann will be presenting an update on the newest in Phalaenopsis breeding as seen

at the 2018 Taiwan International Orchid Show. The advances over the last few years have been eye-

popping and forward thinking, including new directions in breeding intergeneric Phalaenopsis

hybrids.

We will have a slightly different schedule from our previous seven years, starting a little later in the

morning (10 AM) and focusing on two speakers followed by a roundtable culture discussion. In

addition, we’ll have a mini auction along with lunch and snacks to keep us all going.

The New Hampshire Orchid Society will co-host us, as always, on Saturday, September 8, 2018 in

Bedford, NH.

Please go to https://www.nhorchids.org/event-2771757 to register. It’s free for members and $12 for

non-members. The registration deadline is September 1st.

Have a wonderful summer and see you in September!

Are you a member of the American Orchid Society and / or Orchid Digest?

I'm realizing that there may be some real benefit to the NH Orchid Society if

members of NHOS indicate on their renewals or new memberships to both AOS

and OD that they are members of NHOS. Would anyone who is a member of

either, please do two simple things. First, please be sure to indicate on all

correspondence/renewal to AOS and OD that you are a member of the NH

Orchid Society. Second, it may be helpful for us to access the benefits, if you

please send me a quick email indicating which one or both that you belong to.

[email protected]. For those NHOS members who are NOT members of

either AOS or OD, please remember that NHOS is an affiliated society of both,

and the monthly publications are placed in our library... and you may borrow

them !

Thanks! Jean Stefanik, AOS and OD Representative
