NGV FILTERSFilter Housings for Particulate & Coalescing High Efficiency Filter Cartridges
Low Pressure Applications
What is Compressed Natural Gas?
A natural gas vehicle (NGV) is an alternative fuel vehicle that uses compressed natural gas (CNG) or liquefied natural gas (LNG) as a cleaner alternative to gasoline and other fossil fuels.
Existing gasoline-powered vehicles may be converted to allow the use of CNG or LNG. An increasing number of vehicles worldwide are being manufactured to run on CNG.
High Pressure Applications
Natural Gas Vehicles
Lower pressure (less than 35 bar/500 psi) coalescing filter housings are used between the pressure regulator and the fuel injectors to protect the injectors from submicron liquid and solid contamination.
High pressure (up to 350 bar/5000 psi) coalescing filter housings are used between the storage cylinders and a pressure regulator. Filter housings can be manufactured from 6082 grade aluminium or 316L stainless steel.

NGV Filter Housings & Cartridges
Classic Filters produce filter housings and cartridges designed especially for NGV applications.
Here we present overview of the types of filter housing and cartridges available from stock. Our range of standard designs, sizes and pressure ranges give flexibility when specifying a filter housing and element to ensure the correct solution for your NGV filtration application.
Need something special? We can make that for you too.
Filter Housings are available is stainless steel or anodised aluminium. The designs are based on proven Classic Filters high pressure filter housings and tailored especially for the NGV market.
Designed in accordance with the Pressure Equipment Directive 97/23/EC and to ensure safety we pressure test to more than four-times the working pressure.
We operate a Quality Management System to ISO 9001: 2008 under surveillance of TÜV UK Ltd.
All filter housing have been tested and approved for ECE R-110, BS 15500-18 and NGV 3.1 and these are certificated by TÜV Saarland automobil GmbH.
High efficiency coalescing filter cartridges are produced from bonded glass microfibres and completely remove submicron liquid aerosols and solid particles. These cartridges offer exceptional filtration efficiency at very low pressure drops and being +90% void volume they give a very long service life.
A choice of grades give a coalescing efficiency of 99.97% or 95% removal of 0.3 micron aerosols and droplets. Solid particles are also removed at the same efficiency levels.
Designed to industry standard sizes and grades the filter cartridges are completely interchangeable.
Custom Housings & Cartridges

Disposable bonded microfibre filter elements are manufactured from precise mixtures of borosilicate glass microfibres to the very highest standards of quality control.
These elements offer exceptional filtration efficiency at very low pressure drops and being +90% void volume they give a very long service life.
A choice of grades give a coalescing efficiency of 99.97% or 95% removal of 0.3 micron aerosols and droplets. Solid particles are also removed at the same efficiency levels.
Two-layer coalescing filter elements are bonded with a silica binder to impart high strength and eliminate fibre shedding.
The filter media is bonded between two end caps with a Nitrile o-ring seal at the open end.
