Snow on the ground (presumably) and cold air in the lungs can only mean one thing - it must be time for our annual, over the top, Holiday Open House presented by AT&T! Held in the Saint Paul Area Chamber of Commerce's atrium, the Holiday Open House is free, features a variety of delicious food and drinks from our great hospitality members, and includes three hours of non-stop networking. Ever
wonder what it's like to be inside of a cash tornado? Find out when you join us on December 12th and leave with your wallet a little fuller! So if you don't already have the date circled on your calendar, please do it immediately. We want to see you!
And when you arrive, make sure to visit our Foundation table. Each year we conduct the “Really Big Time Raffle” in which 300 tickets are sold, for $100 dollars each, with the chance to win $10,000 dollars or one of three $1,000 prizes! This raffle raises money for our Foundation as they engage in leadership development across the East Metro. Help invest in the caliber of leadership that the business and civic community deserves, and (hopefully!) win big at the same time.
Try to contain your excitement after you check out photos from last year's Holiday Open House here!
Have a wonderful Holiday season and a great 2014 Business year.

Q. Brief overview of your organization and what you offer/sets you apart?
A. I’ve been in banking for 17 years working for the small community bank model, the mid-regional publicly traded bank, and now Wells Fargo. With Wells Fargo, I enjoy being able to offer my clients 80+ product lines / services to work with their specific needs and wants. I enjoy assisting my clients by providing services that allow them to grow, to manage international client transactions, assisting in their succession planning, and allowing them creativity
and flexibility when working together to implement strategies and services. I am also very involved in Saint Paul and the Twin Cities with other organizations as a community member and leader.
Q. How long have you been an ambassador?
A. I’ve been an Ambassador for 7 months, but a very active Saint Paul Area Chamber of Commerce member for over 3 years.
Q. What do you enjoy most about being a Chamber member?
A. My greatest reward is meeting new connections and forming long-term relationships to provide value whenever possible. It all starts with a conversation. I enjoy providing introductions to great internal and external partners that I’ve engaged with over the years.
Q. What is one piece of advice you would offer fellow members?
A. The Chamber will provide you long-term benefits if you get engaged and remain engaged for the long-term. Just attending a luncheon once a year won’t bring you the true value of connecting with great members for the long-term.
Q. Fun tidbit?
A. I used to race BMX (bicycles) on a dirt track competitively when I was younger. It was one of the most rewarding and exhilarating experiences and I hope to return to racing in the cruiser division one day when my children can be involved.
Our Ambassador Committee plays a vital role in ensuring a fantastic member experience. The team is comprised of committed and engaged SPACC members dedicated to attending events, ribbon cuttings, and reaching out to members via phone and personal visits. Interested in joining the team? Company: Minnesota Children’s Museum
Year Founded: 1981
Location: 10 West 7th Street – St. Paul
Website: www.MCM.org
What types of products or services do you offer?
Minnesota Children’s Museum provides hands-on learning experiences for children and families at our St. Paul and Rochester museums, as well as through off-site literacy environments, traveling exhibits and portable museum classes. The Museum is also a destination for field trips, birthday parties and family nights for early childhood groups.
What do you want your business to be best known for?
The Museum is well-known for being a great place for children to have fun painting their own face or tunneling through the Ant Hill, but we also want people to know that the open-ended play that happens at the Museum (or anywhere!) is critical to a child’s development. Because of this, early childhood research and best practices are at the heart of every Museum experience. Guided by the latest early childhood research and our strong partnership with the University of Minnesota, we’re building on our strengths of engaging children in learning experiences while also empowering parents and all caring adults in a child's life with knowledge to encourage playful learning wherever the setting.

Dianne Krizan, President, Minnesota Children's Museum
NEXUS | Saint Paul Area Chamber of Commerce15
Tell us about your recent accomplishments/expansion.
It’s been an exciting few years and we’re not slowing down any time soon. Our rapid growth has allowed us to serve even more children and families across Minnesota with the opening of a satellite museum in Rochester in April 2012 and through the installation of 17 early literacy environments called Smart Play Spots in libraries and community centers across the state, including 11 in the Twin Cities metro area.
Our upcoming expansion and renovation will allow us to welcome 25 percent more visitors, open 50 percent more gallery space and create a 100 percent new experience using the latest research on early learning and school readiness.
What’s a fact about your business most people don’t know?
Most people know that we host a number of traveling exhibits each year, but many may not be aware that the Museum is the nation’s leading producer in traveling children’s museums exhibits. Our exhibits have touched more than 10 million people across the U.S., Canada and Mexico. Currently, our exhibit staff is in the final design stages of a STEM-focused exhibit featuring Thomas the Tank Engine, set to open at the Museum in June.
