Next Meeting Sunday, August 4, at Monroeville Community Park
Hospitality Picnic, Members Arrive at Noon, Open to the Public at 2:00
Greetings Pony Lovers –
First, I want to apologize for the confusion sur-rounding our July 10th meeting, which had to be canceled. Early in the day the weather forecast was threatening, so we decided to bring the meet-ing indoors, back at King’s in Harmarville. Jennie called every member, I sent out a blast email to everyone, and we posted updates on our website and Facebook page. Later that day the National Weather Svc issued a tornado warning and ad-vised staying off the roads. That’s when I decided to cancel the meeting, and again we called and emailed everyone in the Club. I’m sorry if you came to the meeting anyway. In the future, when the weather’s bad be sure to check our website or Facebook page before you leave home.
As I write, Can-Am is this weekend, while PVGP activities have been going on for over a week. We have 76 individuals in 39 cars registered for Can-Am. Can-Am attendees will begin arriving in town Friday afternoon. Our team of volunteers is ready to show the other clubs a memorable time.
Many of our members have already participated in PVGP events such as the Kick-Off Rally, the Wal-nut St. Car Show in Shadyside, the Homestead Cruise at the Waterfront, and the Downtown Pa-rade and Car Show. Today several of us went on the Countryside Tour, and tomorrow is GPMC night at Starlite.
PVGP Marque of the Year registrations are running ahead of schedule, with over 280 Mustangs already pre-registered. We’re hoping to set a record for PVGP Marque participation.
It’s not too late to let Jennie know what you’re planning on bringing to the GPMC annual Hospital-ity Picnic on Sunday, August 4th. You can reach her at [email protected]. Dwight & Mary are in charge of the picnic this year. Members should ar-rive at noon; we open the picnic to the public at 2:00 pm.
The annual GPMC Volunteer Night at Starlite is set for Friday, August 16th. The folks at Northway Christian Community have really gone out of their way for us for GPMC Nite, so let’s be sure to pay back the favor by helping out on the 16th.
Don’t forget - our August meeting is also the Hospi-tality Picnic at Monroeville Community Park. For new members, directions are available on our web-site at: http://gpmcorg.files.wordpress.com/2012/01/directions-to-monroeville-park-mtg1.pdf.

Can-Am and the Pgh Vintage Grand Prix a HUGE Success It’s literally the morning after the PVGP & Can-Am weekend, and time to reflect on the miraculous job our members did to pull off these two events. In the small space here I can only begin to express my gratitude for the hard work you all performed. This week-end was the opportunity for the GPMC to shine, and we pulled it off in spades. I want to personally thank everyone who volunteered with the planning, organizing and execution of a virtually flawless weekend. The last count I have is that we signed up 20 new members on Saturday and Sunday. We’ll hear shortly from the PVGP on the Mus-tang attendance in Schenley Park. I’ve been to many PVGP weekends, and to me it appeared the Marque turnout was a record. Our Club has a lot to be proud of. Now’s the time for us to enjoy the satisfaction of a job well done. I’ll have more to say in upcoming newsletters and at future meetings, but for now I just want to say that I’m extremely proud of our Club and the positive impact we had on one of Pittsburgh’s signature events.
