Room 32 Assembly
Last Thursday, 7 November, Room 32 did their assembly. They did a performance of “The Three
Billy Goats Gruff”. We hope all students and parents enjoyed it! The children of Room 32 certainly
enjoyed performing it and they did a fantastic job!

Assembly
Well done to the Year 2 students from Room 32
for hosting the last assembly. It was a fabulous
display of your talents, especially of your acting.
Next week’s assembly, which will be on Friday,
will be hosted by the Year 1 students from Room
41. The school looks forward to all family and
friends attending.
Camps
In three weeks’ time the Year 7’s will be ready to
go on camp to Camp Quaranup. All children are
encouraged to attend as this is an extremely
enjoyable week and one of the last chances for all
the Year 7’s to participate in activities together
before heading in all sorts of directions for their
years in high school. We wish all children an
enjoyable experience and expect you will
represent the school with pride while on camp. A
huge thank you to organising staff for making the
commitment to run such rich educational
experiences for Yakamia students.
Interschool Athletics
The annual Interschool Athletics Carnival will be
held in Week 7. Jumps and throws will take
place on Tuesday the 26 November at North
Road Athletics Oval. The running and team
games will be held Friday 29 November, also at
North Road. Mr McFarlane has already been
very busy organising the teams for the carnival.
Congratulations to all competitors who have been
selected to represent the school. We wish you well
and hope you are able to achieve your personal
best. Go, Yakamia!!
Pursuit of Excellence
The Pursuit of Excellence assembly will be held
on Thursday 5 December in the Hall from
1.20pm. This is an opportunity to acknowledge a
student from each class who has worked the
hardest to achieve their very best all year. We
look forward to your attendance at this special
assembly.
Children not attending Yakamia Primary
School in 2013
If you know that your child(ren) will not be
attending Yakamia PS in 2014, as you are moving
or changing schools, please let me know as soon
as possible. This will help us to more accurately
staff the school and organise classes for 2014.
School Council Meeting
Next Wednesday, 20 November, is the School
Council meeting to be held at 1pm in the staff
room. This meeting is for School Council
members only.
Kindy and Pre-Primary Parent Meeting
An orientation meeting for all parents of
prospective 2014 kindergarten students and
parents of pre-primary students enrolled for next
year but currently not attending a Yakamia
Kindergarten, will be held on Friday 22
November at 9.00am. The meeting will be held in
the school hall. Letters have gone home with
return slips for attendance attached. Please
remember to return the slip to the office if you are
attending. This will help us to cater for you.
Active After School Activities
A number of Year 6 and 7 students are trying
their hands at golf at the Albany Golf Club, after
school on Tuesdays. This is part of the Active
After School program which encourages students
to participate in sport and to join sports clubs.
Another group of Years 4 to 7 students are
participating in a cricket coaching clinic on
Friday afternoons as part of the same program.
Free Dress Day
Today the school held a free dress day with a gold
coin donation. This was to raise funds for those
people affected by Typhoon Haiyan in the
Phillipines. Our thoughts go out to those Yakamia
families who have family and friends affected by
the typhoon. A total of $753.70 was collected! Well
done to everyone for their generosity.

Early Childhood Art Show and Fancy Dress
Page 4 Yakamia Primary School
The Pre-Primary and Kindergarten centres held their first Art Show and Fancy Dress Ball in the hall
last night. The show was attended by the students, their families, teachers and teacher assistants.
Thank you to all who attended, the art work was amazing and the students enjoyed dressing up for
the fancy dress ball after. The night was organized to showcase the beautiful and creative artwork
the students have produced.
