Dec. 7 at 6:30 p.m. in the Benish Center - The Annual "Light Up for Christ" Christmas Party. Make cards for the giving tree, wrap presents for the Bagdad Pre-school Program, sing Christmas carols and participate in an "Ugly Holiday Sweater" contest. KC Ladies will provide food. GRAND KNIGHT'S REPORT The holiday season is just around the corner, which means things are going to get real busy! Nut sales began this past weekend. We will be selling nuts after every mass for the next two months. If you have time to help with sales please let me know. Thanks to all those Knights and Lady Knights who helped out with Oktoberfest, the Marian conference, Annunciation Maternity Golf Tournament, coffee and donuts, and all the other activities around our parish. Job well done. We have several big activities planned for the coming month. We start off with the Veterans’ Day Parade (see calendar) and need help decorating the float on the Friday before. Brothers Cottrell, Flaherty, Martin, and Wilks will be playing in the annual KC state golf tournament on the 11th. The next weekend is our Knights’ night at Mel’s Bowling Lane on Saturday evening, Nov. 18. The Silver Rose presentation is on Dec. 3 at the 12:30 mass, followed by the Dr. Juan Gonzalez Scholarship and the taking of the gifts to the Bagdad Head Start program. In between all this is our light up for Christ event for the Bagdad Head Start program on Dec. 7 at the Benish Center. We will be doing things a little different this year with a “Sweet and Salty” theme and crazy sweater contest to go along with decorating Christmas trees, singing carols, wrapping gifts, and signing Christmas cards for the seminarians. It promises to be a great evening of fun, fellowship, and entertainment. All the family members are invited so please try and make it. Another reminder: fill in community director David Tull’s survey on your interests and what you do for a living. Many of our council members are looking to support those in the council who specialize in certain jobs. There is always a need to support each other in whatever our endeavors are. Thank you for all you do, God bless, and Happy Thanksgiving to you and your families. YBIC Leo Saenz Jr. Grand Knight Leo Saenz [email protected]

FAMILY OF THE MONTH

Brian and Belinda Lehmkuhle do a lot around our parish and for our council. They were very instrumental in the council garage sale cleanup by coordinating efforts with another non-profit organization that benefitted from the leftover items. Brian and Belinda along with Roni Cook organized the first Marian conference for our parish. It was a huge undertaking and the event went wonderfully. Congratulations and thank you Brian and Belinda from our council. SATURDAY MORNING PRAYER MINISTRY. Our Deacons are leading a morning prayer group Saturdays at 7 a.m. in the Eucharistic Chapel. It lasts about 30 minutes. Please join Brother Knights for this fulfilling ministry. Our regular member meetings are on the first Thursday of each month at 7:15p.m. in the Benish Center. KC 4th Degree Assembly 3688 (St. Rafael Guizar Valencia) meets at the Benish Center the second

Thursday of each month at 7:15 p.m., beginning with the Rosary. COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES Habitat for Humanity - The start-up for the construction of the Habitat home in Cedar Park will begin on/about Nov. 8. For further details on how you can support the Habitat Program, contact GK Leo Saenz, 512-831-8516. KC Wheelchair Mission - As of Nov. 6, our council has purchased 23 wheelchairs during 2017. We are one wheelchair shy of meeting our 2017 goal of 24 wheelchairs. Thanks to all the Brothers at the November general meeting that pooled donations to allow ordering the 23rd wheelchair. We are so close to meeting our 2017 goal. Please do what you can to meet the remaining $140 in donations needed for the 24th chair. Every wheelchair purchased through your efforts is appreciated by those in desperate need of improved day-to-day mobility. Thanks for your continued support during 2017. David E. Tull, Director Community Activities, 512-259-2687 [email protected] KNIGHT OF THE MONTH Deacon John McCardle was very instrumental in coordinating efforts with Catholic Charities to help those affected by Hurricane Harvey in our Diocese, and other locations as well. Deacon John stays very busy with his parish duties as a deacon and continues to help others daily. Thank you, Deacon John, for all your efforts, which help out our council and parish. Congratulations Deacon John from our council.

CHANCELLOR'S REPORT Tim Dwyer [email protected].

Dr. Juan Gonzales Scholarship Time is fast approaching for the final date of submission for the Gonzales Scholarship. To date only one application has been received. Closing date is Monday, November 20. (Original date was November 18.) Father Luis has shared two dates for presentation. The Scholarship Committee will meet the week of November 26 to review and grade all scholarships submitted. At that time, date of the scholarship award at Mass selected will be made firm. Brothers, you are once again encouraged to look to your families to determine if a son, daughter, niece, nephew, grandchild, or wife would be a candidate for this $750.00 award.

Seminarian Jorge Nunez Many thanks to all the brothers who provided personal items, goodies, or financial resources to send a care package to the second of our two seminarians, Jorge Nunez. It was a treasure trove of items for Jorge. In a letter to Jorge, I encouraged him to share any and all of his goodies with his fellow classmates. This care package was mailed to Jorge on Nov. 6. At this writing, both our seminarians have received a thoughtful box of items from our Council. Both Rutherford Griffin, attending Holy Trinity Seminary in Irving, TX, and Jorge Nunez, attending St. Joseph Seminary in St. Benedict, LA, are in the middle of their education and training for the priesthood. As always, you are asked to keep these two young men in your prayers as they walk this road to the Sacrament of Ordination. Pro-Life Mass. Plan to attend the 6:30 p.m. Mass on the first Thursday of each month. This mass is sponsored by our council and is dedicated to “Greater Respect for Life.” FIELD AGENT FOR COUNCIL 7600 Ted Pataki, Field Agent 512-983-6303 [email protected] PRO-LIFE INFORMATION
