A Very Successful Omaha Gives Event! On Wednesday, May 22, 2013 the Omaha Community Foundation hosted the first

Omaha Gives! event. Omaha Gives! is a 24-hour online fundraising event to

showcase Omaha’s spirit of giving, to raise awareness about local nonprofits, and to

celebrate the collective effort it takes to make this city great. Together, the

community raised over $3 million for 318 nonprofits in Douglas, Sarpy, and

Pottawattamie counties. This community

has a strong spirit of generosity. On the

day of giving, HETRA raised $3,144.03,

2013 HETRA Horse Of The Year Crowned! Great Job Team Diamond, Instructor Lisa, and Diamond's team members!

Have you been to on of the HETRA barns during

the horse of the year campaign? If not we strongly

recommend it! Hand drawn campaign posters for

Ted and Waldo, bags of Trix cereal for Trixie’s

campaign, and Rainbow posters decorated the

barns. Waldo put up a hard fight, but in the end

Diamond was the winner. The simple race for

“Horse of the Year” collected pennies aka “votes”

for the greatest horse in the herd and raised close to

$12,000. All funds raised during this campaign go

to the Horse Sponsorship Fund. ($3,600 to

sponsor a HETRA horse for a year). Thank you to the Winsor Family for sponsoring

Diamond’s new HETRA HOTY Halter

Thanks to Farm Credit Services

of America for their hard work

at the Valley Barn and for a

donation of $1,000!

Another Successful

Blue Jeans and

Dreams Event

Over 600 guests attended the 13th

annual Blue Jeans and Dreams

event on April 20, 2013.

$70,000 was raised to support the

student sponsorship program to

fund over 1,500 student

sessions. Guests were greeted at

Five Star Stables by the Omaha

Mounted Patrol. Inside you could

hear Melissa Fry announcing

event highlights and witness local

Royalty in the crowd. The

evening included a performance

to demonstrate the skills of

HETRA students on the specially

trained HETRA horses. A very

exciting live auction was

conducted by Scott Moore. With

the live streaming of the

demonstration and auction via

Proxibid, HETRA was able to

attract bidders from across the

US. The evening concluded with

dancing to the music of Crossfire.

Dear Mom and Dad, Summer horse camp at HETRA was great!

This year we did crafts, played games and made

some new friends. We learned the different parts of

the saddles and horses. We got to paint Dynamite

and then give him a bath. We led the pony, around

the back pen and made tasty-looking horse treats.

Besides getting horse riding lessons, we learned to

tack and groom horses, and clean stalls. We want to

take good care of them. The last day of horse camp

we wore our cool tie-dyed and stenciled t-shirts that

we made. During our final riding lessons we each

got a trophy for our riding achievements.

I sure hope I get to go to horse camp next year.

I can’t wait!

Summer Camp Fun!
